Nice work so far. I'll second the kudos on the lettering. It really makes those parts much more interesting.

Very nice! I feel your pain with the masking. Trim turned out great.

Very cool build! The detail is great and the style fits that car very well!

I really like that setup. Paint looks great, nice color choice as well. Awesome work!

The Monogram Lumina kits were literally modeled after Hendricks cars, which were used for Days of Thunder. Many versions of the kit were released, plenty molded in white. I bought a Western Auto Lumina and an aftermarket set of Days of Thunder decals to do the Mello Yello car. The only thing to note though is they did eventually update them for the '94 cars having smoother front and rear bumpers. So just stick to the earlier releases and you'll have a great base for your replica.

I used Testors "Racing Red". And either Tamiya "Mica Blue" or "Racing Blue" can't remember exactly. Testors Racing Red is an almost perfect match but is a matte color so it will need a good clear coat. My DuPont Monte Carlo build.

Been a while but a small update. Got the body work done and starting to get her into that nice yellow color. Also worked on the intercooler that will be just behind the front grille opening.

Just a heads up, those tabs on the side of the chassis will need to be removed.

Looking good! Glad to see the updates.

I like your idea with the mirrors too. The way the kit works they do look a little cartoony.

Looking good so far! Yes the masking of this kit is difficult but have patience and it'll turn out. Good thinking with the plate!

I don't think they're as far from perfection as you think. Two great looking models! Love the yellow ascents on the wheels of the F12.

Very cool work, I've enjoyed watching your progress!

Saw this at NNL North, couldn't ignore it. The color is perfect for the car and your application is amazing! Very nice work.

The details are awesome! Very nice work, those kits are a bit intimidating!

I really like the color scheme you chose. As perfect as this car is for flashy red paint I think your design looks even better. Nice work!

I did slow down a bit on this build. Completed a little side project here. Cleaned and organized the project bench this weekend so I'll be back on the S2000 soon.

Put together a little side project. This is an old Monogram released 32nd scale F40. It is a snap kit but a few of the oversimplified pieces were cut and glued in order to get them to fit more realistically. First, the body was full of seams and sink marks! Added a scratch built parking brake lever to the interior. (the kit does not supply one). Then a bit of detail painting and custom printed seat belt decals and the interior tub wasn't looking too bad. Overall a pretty good small scale representation of the car.

Ha ha, i think everyone building an F40 has that picture saved to their computer. Every picture I've seen of the engine have plated bolts. On vacation last week, stopped at Ferrari of San Francisco. Sales person we talked to was really cool. Checked out a bunch of nice cars. They did have an F40 on site but seeing it was a no go. That's crazy that the paint held up against aircraft stripper. I've stripped a couple diecasts with the stuff and it pulls up the paint in minutes.

Been a busy couple of weeks here, I have gotten some done on the S2000, not too many picture worthy though. A few fun updates though. I'm replicating the short throw shifter setup. one good thing about having left and right side driver interior parts. Cut open the shift boot on the Left side drive center console, then removed the shift boot from the right side drive piece and inserted it from underneath. Little dab of glue and it was as easy as that! And the front ground effect kit I made is attached to the good body. Sure looks the part. A little tweaking left but I really like how it turned out. More to come!

Excellent build! I really like the plumbing you did for the engine.

EPA Asks Congress to Outlaw Styrene Model Kits....

Ha ha, I dunno, you may be on the right track with the hyper frustration part. Sometimes i think this hobby isn't as relaxing as it's supposed to be. -
Thanks for the comments. Got a few little things done this weekend. Big project is the pillar gauges. Started by coating the pieces with mold release and then covering with Bare Metal Foil. I bought a sheet of black BMF and was not really thrilled with it so I use it for these kind of tasks. Protected the rest of the car from stray Milliput. Mixed up some Milliput epoxy putty and sculpted a pillar. After the basic shape was there I pressed in some reamed out plastic rods for gauges. Once the putty sets I'll blend the gauges to the pillar with some softer putty and fine tune the shape. Started formulating my plan for shaving a scale inch or two from the suspension. Till next time. . .

Where would someone find a good 25th scale plow to add to this kit? -
Oh boy you guys are waiting on me! I guess that's my queue to get some bench time in. Was a slow couple of weekends. Was working on my full size car, not as fun as this one, but gotta get to work somehow. And repairing some Bathroom issues. Excuses, excuses, I know. I have made a little progress though. . . Finished off the tail light openings to fit the aftermarket setup in the Hobby Design kit. These are awesome little pieces that have a lot of detail. Finishing up the seats. filling in a few small gaps between the kit and photo etched pieces. I cut the side windows off and temporarily mounted the front piece to the silver body so I can start fabricating the gauge pillars. Still trying to figure out how to lower this thing!
