Yeah, I've been noticing that as well. Seems to me certain kits are priced differently to others. I always figure out how much the kit would be with 40% off regardless of regular price.
For example (before taxes applied if applicable in your state)
$29.99 minus 40% equals to $17.99
$24.99 minus 40% equals to $14.99
$21.99 minus 40% equals to $13.19
I always figure out my cost with 40% applied even when there isn't a sale on model kits.
You too? A long time ago when we moved in our house back in 1996, I had 2 model kits stored in my cellar. Tamiya 1/48 scale A-10 Warthog kit and a limited edition 1/144 scale B-52 Stratofortress with Griffiss AFB markings (I bought that kit right around the time of the Air Base closures in the early 90s and Griffiss AFB was on that list).
I knew where I had it stored but I got suspicious after 6 months later thinking maybe one of the plumbers repairmen swiped them on me while dealing with a main drain issue back then. Who knows. I'm still holding out hope it'll turn up somewhere.
Don't use blue painter tape!! They're way too tacky for masking. I use Frog yellow tape instead. They're just as good and better than Tamiya tape but cheaper. You can find them at your local paint store. I even used Frog green tape sometimes. Both won't leave any tape residue behind.
A couple simultaneously while I was on the road on my job. To the left at a light, 1957 Thunderbird in black, coming the opposite direction, a 1955 Cameo pick up truck in red. It was a good day to brighten my boring afternoon.
I remember that Nova kit fondly. When I got that kit, I go to the Old Pro decals - never the Innovator option. There’s one thing I always hated is kit molded in color. I prefer white just as everyone else does.
LOL. There's no department employees ate assigned to. You're basically everywhere within the store. You could be stocking yarn, fake florals, or working the registers.?
Too bad they don’t make a 1964 Dodge Dart GT resin kit. I’d love to see Revell, AMT, to MPC put one out as well. The ‘64 was my first car my grandparents gave me as my commuter car for college.
Just checked out MCW website and found the '57 Nomad is out of stock - $38 isn't too bad. I also spied the 57 Olds 88 resin body kit I really love to grab - that one is also out of stock. Although there are several '55 and '56 Olds 88 versions I wouldn't mind getting considering they're averaging $60.
The Revell '55 and '56 Nomads I'll have to keep an eye out for.
If you don’t mind me asking, what was the issue you didn’t like on the ‘57 Nomad kits? I remember having done the old Monogram ‘57 Nomad kit back in the 80s.
I've been noticing there haven't been any re-released kits of Chevy Nomads. I've done a few back in the 80s. You would think they have them out since they're just as iconic as the Tri Five sedans. I find them on ebay but they're ridiculously priced. I know there is a 1/16th scale '55 Chevy Nomad out but it's not my preferred scale.
I don't use regular #11 blade when working with Bare Metal Foil. I use those extremely sharp Z-Series #11 blades (with the gold blades). You can find them at Walmart in the crafts section or any craft store - Michael's , Hobby Lobby, etc...
I use color dot stickers as well - yellow for acrylics, blue for enamels. White or orange for metallizers and detail washes. Since a majority of them are military colors, I label each dot the color name along with the FS number (Federal Standard number).
