This eBay seller is nuts...
BlackSheep214 replied to BlackSheep214's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I put in an offer on the Plum Crazy Challenger Kit. I know he’s going to reject it. However, I was unable to put in the offer for the Mustang kit due to high number of messages to the seller’s mailbox. Methinks, folks are either crying foul on his ridiculous asking price or putting in offers below his asking price. -

Check out their store link. Everything he’s selling are ridiculously priced. I saw the same Mustang kit selling for $45 plus shipping from another seller on eBay. I don’t care what anyone says, no model kit is worth selling for 1 grand or more. -

Stopped by Hobby lobby this afternoon to pick up some paint. Nothing earth shattering as far as their stock goes. Same old, same old...?

Looks like there are no interests in the modern era Corvette kits as of late. -
Very cool kit. I wished I had picked this kit in my youth years. I honestly believe any 50s era automobile can be turn from a bland look to a hot muscle car. As the old saying goes, there’s beauty in the eye of the beholder.

What Are Your Top Ten Kits?
BlackSheep214 replied to doorsovdoon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree with one poster. It’s basically subjective. It’s hard to choose and pick a Top 10 list in my book. Every kit has their quirks - good or bad. There’s no way for me to pick a Top 10 list since I’ve done too many to count since I was around 6, 7, or 8 years old. To give you a ballpark idea of how many kits I’ve done throughout my life since the 70s... my guesstimate is around 300 - 400 kits. Almost 99% of them are long gone from my youth years. Right now, I’m trying to acquire kits I really love to have a second shot at building again - even those I’ve never done before. -

I did that same kit awhile back. Love the color combination. Beautiful job!! -
I agree. At least restock new different kits this time.

Dear hobby friends....

What makes you decide to buy a certain model kit, is it? -subject matter/theme; muscle cars, sports rally, cars, pickups, hotrods, racing, classics, boat, plane, other...? I don't build any type import automobiles at all. I find them too boring. I prefer Muscle cars/trucks and hot rods. I will do an oddball kit as well. Does the box art sometimes make you purchase something you really didn't plan to, if so, give an example of such a kit? Irrelevant to me. Does the manufacturer brand influence your buying choice, and if so, which is your preferred and least preferred and why? MPC , Revell, Monogram and AMT. Although sometimes AMT can give me fits depending on the car model kits. What do you love about building a model kit and what's the least favorite part of the process? The option to build in any way I want. Least favorite part of the process? I'd say not having the parts in my spares bin I want. Does a high parts count scare you as too much of a challenge, or does a low parts count make you feel the product could be toylike? Nope. Bring it on! I love a challenge. What type of kit do you prefer (glue, snap, full detail, curbside)? Glue with the option to build more then one version. Do you like building options, and if so, what (engine upgrade, choice of wheels, decals, other)? Absolutely!! Any option is a bonus to me. If you wish to give manufacturers a "non-subject matter" suggestion what would it be? No answer to this one. Now, something totally different, let's assume you had all the money in the world, a very understanding wife, thus no boundaries whatsoever and would like to start up an automotive collection, which 7 (real, NOT model kits!!!) vehicles, one for each day of the week. My list is more than 7 LOL!! But I think I can manage it down to just 7; all built up as muscle cars. The first one is a definite... 1. 1964 Dodge Dart GT (ragtop or hardtop) - my first car was a '64 Dodge Dart. The next 6 in no particular order: 2. 2019 Dodge Hellcat or Demon Challenger 3. 1970 1/2 Chevy Camaro or 1969 Camaro 4. 1966 Chevy Impala 5. 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS 6. 1956 Nomad 7. 2016 Mustang Shelby GT-H -

BlackSheep214 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Heh... some folks will hide them elsewhere in the store to come back later with cash. Boy, they’re getting sneaky these days. I remember watching one customer at the time was Bradlee’s trying to hide a toy merchandise to save for return trip back. -

Guy in front of me bought 2 of each: Escalade SUV, Chrome big rig tanker trailers, Hurst Olds and 1962 Thunderbird kits Didn't see any ALF Pumper fire trucks at all. Those probably went fast on the first day they had them out on display. I would have picked one up if I had seen one there. Oh well.... -

Most of the Semi kits were picked over. Tanker trailers, Concept Camaro, the 1955, 2009, 2010 and 2012 Corvettes, a couple '69 Hurst Olds, and a few Escalade SUV kits left at my local Ollies store. -

Couldn't help myself...? Doing one Vette stock and the other drag version. Almost wasn't going to get the '69 Hurst Olds but decided to. -

Oh dear... looks like the tribe has spoken. Ranchero is your goal. LOL!!

Yeah.. that too.

Very nice work!! Haven't done an El Camino kit since the 80s. You don't see those on the road anymore.
-
Or turn it into an "El Camino" truck. That would cool.
