  1. I likely have some. Let me know if you need them and I'll start digging.
  2. That was at a very low altitude. The copter had no business being that close to commercial air traffic. From what I've seem on the news, ATC had contacted the helicopter twice and got no response.
  3. Definitely eBay. I have seen them and have a set from 3D Scale, I'll take a picture later on.
  4. Ace Hardware.. dig through their o-ring drawers.
  5. The AMT '49 Ford has an OHV Caddy V8 that might be workable. But a lot of work if accuracy is desired.
  6. Nice build, that was a great era for stock cars. I think the '64 Ford had a tub less the back seat. One issue had a decent cage, some fuel cans and a helmet. To eliminate back seats, I would partition them off using salvaged roofs and hoods. I need to see some '60's stock car under the hood pictures. I'd like to do a Mercury or '63 to '64 Ford.
  7. I was about 10 when I learned about "hot" paints on bare plastic. Before 1997, I never heard about priming a model. That crinkled up body gave birth to a demo derby car. We really built models to smash up. We did them at recess at school in the gym... for a very short while until it got banned. I filled the front of my car (hidden of course) with plastic steel. My dad had a can in the garage.
  8. I decided to make up some bushings to help locate the front strut rods and lower spindle mounts. I still have to do the upper spindle locations.
  9. Possibly from VCG Resins. Most other 3D parts I find on eBay. I have to get back on this. I ran into am issue with the rear partition or firewall location. The kit headers are a horror show. I have a few sets on order from Ron Coon Resins.
  10. This is high end insane! Great detail.
  11. I ran into a fellow stock car modeler on FB. He used to post on Randy Ayers forum. He posted a link to his Fotki site and I already have done most of what he did. Another thing I have to explore is cutting off the front spindle hubs (1/8" diameter) and locating them up higher. I have to do a mock up later this morning.
  12. Old post I know... are these decals any good? I'm watching a few on eBay. Thanks.
  13. Yesterday I made a pot of red sauce. The usual can of paste, 3 cans of crushed tomatoes, garlic, grated onion. I add a tin of anchovies as well. This batch I made meatballs, used 6 sweet sausages, a few pork ribs cut up, a couple chicken drumsticks with the thighs. Of course oregano, basil and a bay leaf. I breaded (double dredge in flour & bread crumbs) some Purdue chicken breasts that were very thin. Those went into the oven with some sauce and grated mozzarella cheese. I put them on Italian bread, hero style. Today I will be making a no-bake cheese cake using Philip cream cheese.
  14. This is where I get mine. He has lots of stock car pieces.
  15. That is just perfect. The finish is a nice break from the ultra-polished ones we usually see here.
  16. If you have a good digital scale, you can get both parts dispensed equally. I generally use my "eye-crometer". In the past I used only a dab to hold in glass. At work we had those bipax epoxies in small packages, it came with a divider that was removed, knead the 2 parts and go to town with it. We had a shelf with expired items and we helped ourselves. I never saw any of that fail. Bigger amounts came in cans like Bondmaster 777. That was purple in color and smelled like peanut butter. We had a damaged concrete step, maintenance used the 777 on it, it had to be there for 15 years and withstood thousands of footsteps each day.
  17. How many do you want? Lol... they are still around. The Southern Stocker kits had interchangeable nose and tail pieces. It was essentially the same kit for the Monte Carlo (1981-ish), the Grand Prix and the Buick Regal. These mainly were short track versions with bulged-out fenders. They would be great for late model builds with wide 5 wheels. All kits had a generic big block Chevy with the distributor up front.
  18. I find that my gray primer hardly covers over a black sharpie. So I wash it off with lacquer thinner before.
  19. Cage is done. Added a Ron Coon overflow tank and fuel fill. Pinned the spindles, added 00-90 threaded rod for front weight jackets. Using a PPP window net. MSD boxes will be inside on the dash.
  20. Thanks. I came close to swapping a donor WC kit under it, one stop shopping. I have more than a few of the Buick and Pontiac Southern Stocker kits, I like the body on the Buick. So that may be up next. It has been a learning experience.
  21. I'm looking at some NASCAR decals made by LoboGraphics on eBay. Has anyone used them?
  22. Some of the original stock car steel wheels were actually made from Ford pickup truck pieces. The centers were doubled up and welded into wider hoops.
  23. I had a 1965 C30 panel truck in 1975. It came with an oil belching 215 Pontiac straight 6, similar to the Chevy 230. I swapped a 283 and headers into it. I'd like to build one. But I would need 2 bodies. The C30 was much longer.
  24. I use surgical blades myself. You need a hard surface. A cutting mat is too soft, i used a sheet of thin fiberglass for years.
