  1. Bill, I'm wondering how we're gonna be able to appreciate the engine.
  2. Here's how I'm going to do the map. I laid some tape on the side and front of the car, and drew a template. Then I laid the tape on some clear acetate and will use it to cut templates to choose what parts of this map will get used. I'm going to do some graphics changes so that some of the cooler parts of the map show up in my chosen areas. More soon.
  3. I'm very happy today to restart this stalled project. It stalled because I could not figure out the finish on the body. So lets catch up. Here is my previous attempt. Satin black with a masked area of tan and some hard painted graphics which looked terrible. So my next plan was to print graphics but could not find a pirate map that I liked. Until now. So this will now remain on the bench until complete. Here's the map I found. Thanks Google. So here's where the body is now. Satin black a few days away.
  4. Thanks Pat. I finished it up, adding a upper radiator hose and side mirrors. A rusty wash on the rockers and she's in the display case. I'm really looking forward to setting her in the tuner section at the next contest.
  5. I really like this build. A lot of cool details. Can't wait to see it done.
  6. Looking forward to seeing it Pim.
  7. I didn't know either Charlie. When I made the trade for a '77 Pacer (sight unseen) with a fellow club member, I assumed and expected I was getting the recent release of the coupe. When he showed up at the next meeting with this, I was very happy. From what I gather, it was released in it's stock form and then as a custom panel sedan. And then never again. Maybe suggest a re-release to Round2?
  8. I already have. No reply as of yet. I'll let you know how this works out.
  9. Wow. The ultimate Shriner car.
  10. Much appreciated guys. Different is what I strive for.
  11. Tom and the others that suggested a die cast, GOOD IDEA. I even found one. Red on red, like his. http://www.epicdiecast.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=320 But I'm fairly certain his was a non-SS car. That makes it a little more difficult in the die cast search. In any case, I've decided that I'm just going to ignore him. He's family, but we're not what you'd call tight due to some serious family drama that occurred a few years ago. If fact the only contact we've had since has been about this model, and then finally at the party recently. Thanks to everyone who responded. Much appreciated.
  12. T That's cool. I find basswood has a nicer grain that still looks in scale. I'll definitely be looking into that.
  13. I dig it.
  14. Tim, based on your photos, if someone was to add a hood and hood sides (notched to use the kit headers), the only thing that would obstruct that is the alternator. That sound right to you? I found a great pic of a channeled track nose '29 roadster last night in a magazine. I'm hoping the hood from the Revell '29 pickup kit will fit this new body.
  15. Build a model for me? Friends, coworkers etc. I have no problem turning down. But family? That's harder. My mothers first cousin had for a long time, a '66 Chevelle. Bone stock. He loved it, but there was something wrong with it. A paint job just wouldn't last. He'd have a paint job done and in just a few years, it would fade out. No matter how well he took care of it. On his last try he had the whole body media blasted to bare metal and resprayed by a very well thought of custom shop. He took out a bank loan to pay for it. Three years later it faded out again. At some point he just assumed that there was some sort of impurity in the metal. and sold it off. Now he wants me to build him a model of it. He asked me privately once via Facebook, and I politely turned him down. This time he asks me in front of the entire family at a party. All the while going on about how much he likes and respects my work. Man, that is a low-down dirty trick. What a snake. I'm thinking that I should build it with the faded paint, just to spite him. How do you guys handle it when this occurs?
  16. Tom, I think that one should be set in some sort of rustic "forgotten hot rod" dio-base and left as is. Don't clean up anything. As Wayne Corrini would say, "that's good dust".
  17. I've been waiting for someone to have a go at kitbashing those two kits. Very nicely done.
  18. Hmm..........................tell us where you got those bed rails. A groovy idea. Looking good so far.
  19. Very nicely done. I like everything about it.
  20. Granted this is a V12, but you get the idea. Your V16 would look awesome behind some big COE.
  21. The exhaust system (mufflers & tailpipes) would only be used when the caps are removed from the elds of the headers. Think of them as manual exhaust cut outs. Cap the headers, cops leave you alone. Take them off when it's time to make noise. Looking good Tim. nice work.
  22. Thanks guys, I'm real glad you like it.
