  1. That's a big reason why I like your contests Jim, unlike another Florida club (which shall remain nameless) who love to award each other.
  2. I like it! Very cool idea and execution!
  3. Thanks for posting this. I have a BB, sans wheels/tires. I now know what to use.
  4. I think you need to use a different set of headers. For one that looks like a small block, and the spacing on the headers says big block. Two, the exhaust that goes outboard of the frame and then back in for the turbos serves no purpose. Perhaps a Corvette style header that drops straight down, would work out better. I have a set if you need. As for what body, usually chassis are built after you have a body picked out. However, due to the length of this, I'd go with something longish, like the Revell '39 Chevy Wagonrod, sans fenders.
  5. I kitbashed the heck out of this kit, parts went everywhere. But the more I see the great work using this kit, the more I want to get another and build it as a kit. Great work.
  6. Ya know, I just can't do it. I can't use parts I don't like. I'll build something else box stock for competition. I'll find something better. Thanks for the help everyone.
  7. It's on the calender. Hopefully my work schedule is sympathetic.
  8. Wow. That is incredible work.
  9. Here's some recent stuff from me.
  10. It looks like its for real cars, for that all important faux-chrome look that is so in vogue these days, like those wonderful (not) stick-on portholes. I would imagine the adhesive is quite tough and it's not something I would try on a painted model body. The areas you trim off could take paint/clear with it. Also BMF is super-thin. This might not be.
  11. indeed. Okay. Thanks Roger, you're always here to help, much appreciated. Maybe if I paint the spokes in steel or black they will look better.
  12. Let me re-iterate. I'm building this box stock for contest. Which means I have to build it with parts from one kit. So if I can find an older release of the same kit, with different wheels/tires and have the proper instructions it's legal to compete with.
  13. Was there ever a release of this kit that came with more stock looking wheels/tires? Of all the California Wheels editions, this thing has the worst wheels, and I was going to do this one box stock for contest. If I can find an older release with better wheel/tire options I would be deliriously happy. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. I split them when completely dry and then re-wet the edges with setting solution to get them to lay into the groove a bit better.
  15. Those Blastolene guys are just off the charts as was as artistry and outrageousness. Love it.
  16. Wow. Very cool!
  17. Man. that is super clean. Nice job!
  18. That looks great. I may get this one out tonight for a slump-buster project.
  19. Well done! I had this kit for years and somehow I can no longer find it.
  20. No. I NEVER have more than one model out at the same time. Even if I'm working both in the same time frame. When I shift, everything from the previous build is bagged and boxed and set aside. Too much chance for misplaced parts, when you have multiple builds on the bench. I do this for fun and the frustration of searching for parts, is the opposite of fun.
  21. I'm very happy to see this finished. I always enjoy the imagination you put into your work.
  22. It's not so much that I won't have a place to build, just a smaller place and I can live with that. The biggest drag right now is that with the move on the horizon, I just have zero interest in getting in the middle of something and having to stop. And my wife is a whirlwind of decorating for weeks after a move, so the new bench won't be operational for some time.
  23. I liked it a lot. This is over white krylon primer, with no clear. My clear reacted badly to the decals so the whole thing went in the dip.
