  1. Well it sure has been altered. Nice work.
  2. Loving it!
  3. I don't know what you guys keep complaining about with this kit. Display it with the hood flipped up and it's perfect. I really appreciate your effort here Blue, keep at it.
  4. Very impressive. Some very cool details added, I like it.
  5. FANTASTIC!
  6. Surprising, but very cool.
  7. Seriously? And how is the judge to know for certain that any part is scratchbuilt? Just because it is written on the entry form? If that were the case then every person who did 3D printing or resin cast would be listing work as scratchbuilt. A judge must be TOTALLY impartial to the origin of any part of a build or the contest is inherently flawed because the judge is prejudiced. Only the quality of the final product matters. Period. Would you like to lose a contest when your build was better because you used a 3D printed part and the next guy scratchbuilt theirs?
  8. Just copy paste the image into an MS Word document and size it there. Very easy and you lose a minimum of detail.
  9. Your welcome Virgil. Jeff according to Wiki (which tends to be pretty accurate since car guys are so anal about accuracy) it wasn't built as a sedan delivery but it was as a 4-door station wagon, which could be converted I suppose, to a delivery. But you gotta remember in the 50's the GM brands were always a step up from each other in luxury with Chevy being the base model and Cadillac being the top of the heap. Olds was somewhere in the middle so a work vehicle probably wasn't gonna happen. I'm thinking a nice resto-mod for mine. With a '67 Chevelle chassis and a 396. I have a stalled Fleetline project with a Chevelle chassis that I'm curious as hell to see how it fits in the Olds body.
  10. I picked up the kit a few days ago and I'm still kicking around ideas for it. I know a lot of other folks are as well so we may as well do it together. I've started think tank threads before on another forum and it always yielded some interesting thoughts and ideas. I put it in the Workbench section because it is sort of a mental workbench, so I think it fits. If the mods decide to move it, so be it. What ideas have you been tossing around for this kit? Discuss.
  11. I'm looking forward to seeing this come together. Common bleach will also strip chrome without issues.
  12. Thanks very much for the atta-boys guys. I've got an idea to use the kit bench seat after all. We'll see how it pans out.
  13. Really nice work! I'm a fan.
  14. Great color. A black wash on that grill would really make it pop.
  15. Yeah Jim, this past year hasn't been good for my modeling. Between work and home issues, I have not yet completed anything new since last year at MAGS. I'm not the kind of guy to bring the same models twice. Plus I was busy at home that weekend. I have decided to skip all contests until I have something new.
  16. I can understand your point however you have to realize without those companies donating parts in return for the publicity and advertisement, the show would not exist.
  17. Sorry guys. The amount of effort that went into a model should NEVER be a consideration in a model contest (or any contest for that matter) ONLY the quality of the finished product. Period. It doesn't matter if the parts were milled, cast, printed or created by fairies in the magical land of Honalee. Only the execution of those parts as part of a model matter.
  18. Chuck it is #2 on my hit parade of WIP's. I have just relocated and got my first model out on the new bench. I'm still having styling issues with the front seats. Nothing I've come up with seems to fit that over the top interior. On the body, my first goal will be to cut a Jolly Roger stencil and get it on the trunk, then I'll start masking for the treasure map mural. I finally have a great place to build and paint so I expect to get a lot done over the next few months. Thanks for keeping me honest and its nice to know people are wanting to see the work. More soon. ALSO- IF ANYONE HAS A BEER STEIN SHIFTER FROM THE TOM DANIELS BEER TRUCK, I'D LIKE TO GET MY HANDS ON TWO. WHAT USE IS A BARREL OF RUM WITHOUT A MUG TO DRINK IT FROM? Yep still need those.
  19. If this technology were readily available, there would be no need to scratch-build parts. Yeah, you might get a warm and fuzzy, "I built that there dinglewhopper" feeling for building it yourself, but I look at it this way. It already takes me far to long to build a model. If I can shave a couple of hours by 3d printing my parts instead of scratching them, guess what I'm going to do? And I think Pat has a point. Not everyone would have a NEED for a 3d printer in there home. So I don't see that Xerox will be rushing to get this to market. As for contest, we can already get nearly any part resin cast by somebody, really what is the difference? Only the skills of the guy/gal building the model. As it should be.
  20. Very realistic. Great workmanship.
  21. Man, I do like this build Nick. It's got a very realistic feel to it.
  22. I am enjoying the new format very much as well. I also like the fact that they are less time constrained.
  23. Nope, several months left on this. Virgil, considering the popularity of this CBP, and how very far behind I am with my build  perhaps we should nix the end date altogether.
  24. Many thanks to Dan for saving this highly disappointing thread.
