  1. Anyone else? I think my kit is just going to sit on the shelf for a while until I think of something cool.
  2. Quick question. The compass rose and the few palm trees and water I plan to paint onto the map I 'd thought to do in color. Do you think this might end up looking cartoony? I'm going to try to keep the colors a little washed out, to look faded.
  3. You think this is bad, you should see a thread when someone asks to have "hot rod, street rod, street machine" defined. People lose there freakin' minds over that one.
  4. Your weathering looks like it was done with a brush. What happened with the salt effect?
  5. James, the rear area will be occupied with a rum barrel and the skeleton of some poor soul who tried to abscond with said rum. However I was kicking around the sword rack idea for the trunk. Mark this one has been on the back burner for about a year so no surprise you didn't get to see it. Thanks very much for the ataboys guys.
  6. I'm really liking this. Well done.
  7. I started my treasure map graphics tonight. Please allow that these are supposed to look kinda rough. There will be some shading added with acrylic craft paints to make the paper look aged. I will be hand painting some palm trees and perhaps an X or two. The trunk lid will be getting a skull and crossbones stencil and the hood will be getting a compass rose. As always comments and criticisms are kindly welcome.
  8. I have finally come up with a front seat that I think works for this build, Surprisingly its the kit bench seat. I cut out the center and added the red silk. Painting the rest black then the red insert was glued back in. The gold piping finished it off. The interior is finally done. I'll add some additional details but the road block is past. Time to start work on the graphics.
  9. Couldn't resist throwing this up on the chassis tonight.
  10. Okay- that's something else I wondered about. Gassing out the decanted paint. How long? How can I tell it is? I obviously don't want it exposed to air too long. Great advice guys, thanks very much.
  11. I had a very similar idea using that hearse part and the rest from the Rootbeer Truck.
  12. When you guys decant a spray can, and have paint left over how are you storing it? What sort of container? Where do you get them? How well does it keep? And when empty just rinse with thinner or do you chuck them in the purple pond? Or do you just decant as much as you need and don't bother keeping extra? I'll be doing a lot of this in the future and just thought I'd get the particulars.
  13. Looking forward to it. Space is always a consideration for me, so large scales are out.
  14. You say that like its a bad thing!
  15. Whoa. That is out of this world artistry.
  16. My favorite Ferrari done well! Great work.
  17. Yeah, I gotta agree with that. I often get that vibe from some folks, that people who do build to compete are somehow flawed.
  18. Welcome Logan. First off try using a camera with a macro setting for some better pics. It looks like you had a real idea in mind for this and you did well. To avoid fogged glass in the future just use a white Elmers glue. Above all take your time, spray paint (airbrush if you got one) everything (brush paints are usually for detailing only) and clean up every part before assembly. Flash, ejection pin marks, mold seam lines. Above all enjoy yourself.
  19. WOW! That looks fantastic! Great colors, great effects. Why the purple on the rear piece?
  20. Happy to have you Niko.
  21. Okay my idea is this. Tape the fenders to the body REAL well. Nice and tight with the sides perfectly aligned. Then add the round stock in one continuous piece. Be careful not to get glue in the door crease doing this. This will keep you from having alignment issues. Use super glue. Tack the beginning and wait a couple minutes for it to set. This way you can pull lightly against it to keep the lines straight to the next glue point. After all is said and dried, cut the fenders away with a saw and do the same to separated the pieces over the door crease.
  22. I'm back! The pics don't show it well but that there is Testors One Coat Lacquers - White Lightning, straight from the can over white Krylon primer. This is the first time I've used it and I must say I'm impressed. It has an excellent shine. After a couple days it's getting BMF'd and the flame decals from the Revell 49 Merc. Time to get moving on the interior. I'm also plugging away on the Jolly Roger gang so expect more soon.
