  1. For those of you looking for a cool paint idea for the new '50 Olds, you might want to check out the newest Rod & Custom cover car, a '50 Bel Aire. I was unable to find a pic of it online, but if you are going by your local news stand, check it out. It is so classy and subtle, you won't be disappointed.
  2. I'm pretty sure he's asking about true lemons, not asking people to vent their automotive predjudices.
  3. Just some white thread stuck to the back with the aforementioned double faced tape.
  4. A while back I had posted my real cloth Mexican blanket that I made using a rather hard to find lint free cloth. The cloths are expensive and not usually carried in your average hardware store. So in response I got a lot of "Nice work and thanks for showing us something we can't do, you knucklehead." So imagine my surprise when I found the identical material in the most unlikely location. My gun cleaning kit. Gun cleaning patches are made of the VERY SAME STUFF. And you can get them in varying size depending on the caliber of the gun you are buying for. This means you can probably find these lint free cloths/patches in any sporting goods/gun store/WalMart. The brand I have on hand is Gunslick and the patches are 1.5 x 2.5 inches for my .45. I have seen them on the web (Amazon) up to 3x3 inches for 12 gauge shotguns which would be big enough to cover any 1/24 scale seat. Here's the cloth markers I used from Michael's. And used them and the cloth to make this. I first cut the cloth to size and then taped it down with some double faced tape or just some folded over masking tape. I then drew lines with the markers using a good straight edge. Don't press down too hard so you don't get too much ink and end up with colors bleeding into others. Holding it down keeps the cloth from pulling out of shape as you draw your pattern. Let the cloth dry fully before handling the new blanket. Clean hands are an excellent idea too. I also used the same material for the top for my Merc. I am very happy to finally pass this method on to you guys using materials you can actually find. Totally made my day. I hope you find this useful.
  5. Yeah buddy! That turned out great.
  6. WHoa. THAT is impressive.
  7. Tony it is Purple Power or Super Clean. Two lye based cleaning solutions available in the automotive sections of most superstores or any auto parts store. Brake fluid is the old standby but many have changed because disposal isn't as much of an issue.
  8. Yeah I've tried flocking a couple of times now and I haven't been that thrilled with the results. What section in Michael's has this embossing powder? I'm going to give it a try.
  9. You always do such excellent body work, but I think your paint work would really improve if you stripped off the old old paint first.
  10. If I can make a recommendation? These Lincolns are so big and slab-sided it needs something to break up all that real estate. So I would love to see some sort of side trim added or a two tone or side graphic.
  11. This is very very cool. I love the Riddler theme.
  12. Yep, what Bill said.
  13. Nice work man. This is one of my all time favorite kits. You did it proud.
  14. Vodka. I feel your pain. I've been getting beat up by the interior or my current build for Pet's sake.
  15. Heck yeah, I've been shopping the nail care area at Sally's Beauty Supply for years! Totally changed modeling for me.
  16. No chop? I approve.
  17. Yeah, I used that blue years ago and I really liked it but it is very dark. As I said this interior continues to fight me. The eyeball shifter knob will need to be redone tomorrow. That's all I'm sayin'.
  18. Here's my attempt at an eyeball shifter knob. It looks pretty good. After its all dry I'll give it some gloss. ###### hard to photograph too.
  19. Wow. I've got a couple of hose axles lying around. I never thought to do that to them. Good work Bill.
  20. I recommend sanding it and putting it back in the purple pond. I gotta go with what I know will work. I've yet to meet a primer that stands up to the lye, it's just too porous.
