Dave, you've been posting up several models here lately, and there's not a single one of them that we want only one photo of. It's a tease. Please post up more than one photo of each build. You do very good work, and we want to see more.

I dig it. Looking good.

Tom, thanks very much. I will likely be doing something like that. Carl, at this time my plan is to use the stock wheels/tires, which are painted wires, BUT should a set of period Rolls style wheels happen my way, I'll likely go with that as it will also give the roadster a bit of salt flat street cred. ? Thanks David. It's taken two years to get it sorted.

Suspensions on Kustom Cars?

Ah, I see. Thanks very much for straightening that out. ? -
Very good work. The Revell 49 Merc decals work very nicely on that one.

Suspensions on Kustom Cars?

This seems soooooooo risky because theres an awful lot of weight riding on those welds. And a weld failure could be catastrophic. -
Very impressive. Looking forward to more.

This is the last unpainted mock up. I'm going to start removing the hood louvers. It seems that loosing excess weight would be a good thing for a beach racer, so off they will go. I may throw a piece of mesh behind them. Not sure yet. I will be including headlights. I have seen clips from the TRoG, of folks removing headlights in the local parking lots at the race location, so that's my thought process there. Painting has finally begun. Black chassis, interior and wheels will be a burgundy and the body will be a gloss grey. One thing I just do not like about this body is the cowl, or lack there-of. It's extremely limiting on my choices for the windshield. I'm leaning on just cutting down the stock piece and adding two arced windscreens.

definition of street rod and hot rod

I have to admit this is sort of how I think of them as well. -
You should have two sprues like this. Photo from Chuck Most's Madhouse Miniatures website.

It's looking good Ray. After reading your thread though, I am second guessing purchasing one of these kits.

AMT 50 Chevy patina truck
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks very much guys. The real vehicle was the hero here. It's really unusual when you see something that grabs your attention like that, gets the creative juices flowing, and you realize, I HAVE ALL THE PARTS AVAILABLE, RIGHT THIS MOMENT, TO REPLICATE THAT! Usually it's a situation where, "well I need to buy this kit, to get that, or put a "wanted" online and hope someone has it, etc." and gather parts over a period of months. I literally had every part, or had near immediate access to it through local club members. A four month build is really pretty rare for me. Part of me is still sorry I didn't put a diesel in it, but I just couldn't justify the expense, when I had perfectly servicable engines in the stash. -
I remember. I ended up adding a '68 Corvette subframe. Nice work on this JIm. It looks happy to see us.

I'm my own worst enemy. I'll come up with an idea, throw spare parts in a kit, and then plans change, parts are misplaced and never seen again. I need to just store the spares properly and not put them ANYWHERE until the model is on the bench.

One that pops to mind was the AMT Double T kit. Before the R2 issue, the last release was in 1961 and the molds were MIA according to AMT. This is particularly personal is because I'd just spent quite a bit for an incomplete kit to build one for a family member, and then a year later .......... ?
