´33 Ford 3W Coupe - Billy F. Gibbons´ Eliminator
Jantrix replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
Very nice work. -
Man, I do admire a good clean builder. Looks terrific.
-
I'm afraid my build has been sidetracked by life.
-
Having said that - on our theme poll for this year, it was a tight race between Inliners and Vans. If the group chooses to run another Cannonball and forgo my "brilliant" idea , I really think the group that really wanted vans, should have their day.
-
My thought, and we've been batting it around in the main build thread, is sort of taking a break from the Cannonball and making next years run, the Peking to Paris Rally. The P2P is the toughest endurance race on the planet. 33 days of travel and time trials. Like a lot of historic rally races, only vintage cars are allowed. The cars are subject to certain build rules but as you can see from the bottom link, they are far from stock. I think it would be an excellent change of pace and an opportunity to build a truly historic race car. http://www.endurorally.com/pages/the-peking-to-paris-motor-challenge-2016 http://peking2paris2013.com/car/

I'll add a few. Glad to see this thread again, although the OP is MIA here the last threee years.
-
Excellent. The things they are doing with rockets boggles the mind. Even when I was a kid seeing a rocket land vertically on some sci-fi movie, I was thinking "yeah right, pull the other one". Truly amazing.
-
That's looking insane Fred.
-
Pat I'd say that doing anything besides following the actual rules of the P2P would be wrong. As for stock - not hardly - it's more of a period race car. Check out this '40 Ford that placed third in 2013. http://peking2paris2013.com/car/

Quite right. So horsepower and handling will take a back seat to ride height, traction, stability and torque. Fuel economy even. With three classes, there are a lot of options. There are build rules but they are rather loose. The more I read about this rally, the more I want to do it in real life. If I ever win the lottery, I'll be there with bells on. Please chime in here racers, unless I get a whole lot of no thank you's, this is likely gonna be next years run. If I do get enough negative reaction, I will honor the groups wishes and a normal Cannonball CBP will be run.
-
That shouldn't be necessary. We go around the Middle East. Nothing puts the damper on a rally like a rowdy group of jihadies. Fred it's good to see you back. We were fixing to contact the Australian authorities to see if you'd been eaten by a rabid wombat. Looking forward to seeing the Bugatti take shape. Get to it.

I quite agree. Very cool. I am missing wide whites in the front though. -
I believe so. However as a rally, it's not all in one non-stop race. It's 33 days of time trials and legs to the next time trial location. So it's cumulative time in the drivers seat. http://www2.endurorally.com/pp2013/results.php I agree about the new race part. It would not be the Cannonball Run. It would be something like the MCM Peking to Paris Rally brought to you by the Cannonball Drivers Association. And there would not be a Cannonball Run next year running concurrently, so you won't have to choose one or the other if your build time is as limited as mine has been lately. I'm really amazed that I finished my racer this year. It's been crazy at my farm. Lastly, this deviation from our normal runs will be an exception, not the rule. The year following we'll be back terrorizing the streets of America.

Attention Cannonballers. Guys, I have a neat idea for next year’s Cannonball. Hear me out. 2019 is the next running of the Peking to Paris Rally. For those that haven’t heard of it, it’s a rally that began in the early 1900’s and was discontinued for some time but recently revived. Only cars prior to 1976 are allowed. It starts in China, goes up through Mongolia, through the length of Russia, into western Europe, then eastern Europe to finish in Paris to wine, women and song. It takes about a month to complete. There are several classes. I’m attaching a .pdf with the rules. Now I know an organized race is hard to stomach for such hardened vehicular outlaws such as ourselves, but I think this might be a fun alternative for next year’s run. Please do some Google searching on some P2P racers, it looks like a great time with some truly unique racers. I’ve been planning a model of a P2P racer recently, and it occurred to me it might be a fun Cannonball. Please check out the website and the rules and let me know what you think. This is very likely the toughest automotive endurance race on the planet. I think its time we put our stamp on it. http://www.endurorally.com/pages/the-peking-to-paris-motor-challenge-2019 P2P 2016 Regs FINAL.pdf

I think she was stunning back in the day. Google some photos from the movie Milk Money.
-
Umm..................did you just post a photo and then compliment it yourself? It is a good looking model though.
-
I wouldn't dare debate you but if she's had work done it was by the Michelangelo of plastic surgeons. Seen Melanie Griffith lately? Yikes.
-
I really like it.

Throwing in the towel. Need some advice
Jantrix replied to Project510's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is a very common story. I'll say to you, I've never known a modeler that has disposed of his stash that didn't regret it. Period. Maybe not tomorrow or next week, but eventually. Box it up, store it. Eventually things will smooth out and you'll be looking for a kit. If you absolutely must find a new home for the stuff, find a local model club. Let them know you have a collection for sale. -
I dig it. Thumbing your nose at convention please me.
-
This seems appropriate
Jantrix replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I quite agree. This realization happened about five years ago. With life sucking up 98% of my time, using that 2% well became important to me.
