That's usually the kiss of death for my builds. The Mustang looks great.

I'd like to point out that, though at some point this turned into a "criticism" debate, that's not what I indended it to be. I intended it to point out that to be a good, great or expert builder, one must first learn the basics of clean model building. And the best way to do that is to practice without too much in the way of modifications, and then add mods as your skills improve. If you have different goals for you building and don't care to improve, or about the overall quality of your work, then carry on. Enjoy. Just don't wonder why no one is commenting on your work. But if you would like to improve, please check out the original post and the responses from others that followed.

It's a Valspar green. I'll check out the name when I get home.

This thread IS the place for this discussion. Keep on. And I agree completely. Nothing ruins the illusion like molds seams and excess glue. True. But the thing is, modeling isn't rocket surgery. It's just not that hard to build cleanly. It just takes the will to do so and some rudementry and inexpensive tools. If no one points out these things and continues with the ataboys, they don't learn. That was the point of this whole thread. To speak to the new builder and say, "This is why you aren't getting much attention here, your work could be improved if you do X, Y and Z." Mike, you are an excellent builder. I'm positive you didn't get that way with no one telling you ways to improve.

Fujimi Civic Type R Ek9 build-issues,massive one!! please help out
Jantrix replied to gigi16898's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'd strip the paint and start over. There are several threads here on how to do so. -

Some work on this model despite the best attempts of life to get in my way. Interior is done and due to the inability to really see all that well into the Willys interior once its in the body, it's painted but I kept the detailing minimal. On the engine, I've added the EFI fuel rail and fuel line. (Note to self - fuel line BEFORE attatching the belts and pulleys). Alternator brackets and that's it until the car is all glued together and then I'll plumb the turbo and intercooler.

I quite agree.

I really like the styling of those JDM cars. I think there are many U.S. cars that I'd like to see build in that style. Gremlins, Pacers, Mustang II's, Monzas, etc. Although here, I suppose we'd just call it pro-touring, yes? I think I'll hit the stash and see what I can come up with.

The Golden Foose - DONE!
Jantrix replied to Impalow's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I've always really liked seeing the exhaust run like this on trucks. But how in the world does this not bake the paint right off the bedside? Outstanding work. I like it. -
Wow. The bar has been set. Tremendous work.

Gonna be some chassis work getting those tires to fit for sure.

"Triple Threat" '57 'Vette - 05-03 Update - Version 2, Show Car
Jantrix replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I dig it. -
Yes. As I've found with the Willys, if you want to make a model infinitely more complicated, add a turbo. Or in your case, two. Nice work.

Exactly what was the problem with building 1/24 or 1/25 kits? Bad vision, hands tremble or what? I do not care to READ what you are doing. Please post pics. PLEASE don't use the tube glue. Use a medium thickness CA super glue, available in any hobby store or via mail order. The improvement will be immediate. Also, super glued parts separate after drying much better than the tube glue. You could still be building the Stutz.

'64 Olds Dual Judson Supercharged Engine?
Jantrix replied to Casey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'd like to see someone resin cast or 3D print a few of these. -
Replacement is your only option. Either by getting another part or fabrication from clear acetate or similar product. I suppose building a junker is another way to go.

Disassembling glued parts
Jantrix replied to MikeRousseau's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If they are painted, some times stripping them in Purple Power will disolve the paint and make glued joints easier to separate.
