Angela Lansbury takes a dirt nap @96 years young.
Oldcarfan27 replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I gotta ask. If 96 years is young, what is OLD to you? A century is quite an accomplishment, but there aren't many who've made it much longer than that! -
Or the last place you used it!

AMT 51 Chevy, 53 Corvette, 60 Chevy pickup, 37 Chevy. Galaxie Limited 47/48 Chevies. While the OHC6 in the AMT/MPC 69 Firebird is a Pontiac, the basic block is a 250 Chevy car engine used throughout the 70s. But that might not be what you're looking for.

The new one is definitely an improvement, they had to come up with a new box for the AH, nothing was more dull than the original art. The other two were originally Italeri boxings so they couldn't use those.

Good for them! ???

Old AMT model kits... why not to reissue those?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Drago's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
What Mark said is spot on. They can't reissue what they don't have. However, Round 2 constantly surprises me at how much they've found and brought back from the dead! We don't know exactly what all they have, but they're making the best of everything that they've got and they've brought back stuff that we thought we'd never see again and were told was lost forever. Alexandre, I've asked the same question as you. Why don't they reissue the last version of some very unique kits that haven't seen the light of day in decades. My thread got linked with another thread and kind of got lost to history. It wasn't the same as the other one, so the significance was lost once it was merged. Here it is, my thread starts on page 5. -
Even a good scanner is limited by the quality of the original photo. If there is weak detail on the pic, there will be no improvement in scanning and enlarging it. In other words, if the ornaments are illegible on the old photos, they won't be any better by digitally converting them. Sorry.

Let's just say I have an inside source.

Vintage ‘69 Acadian SS model kit
Oldcarfan27 replied to BlackSheep214's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Problem is, if they want to make them look legitimate, they should do a little research on the history and products of the companies they put on the boxes. Johan never produced Chevrolets. While MPC did make GTOs in 1967, they didn't use photographs, they used illustrations and had the car angled perpendicular to the diagonal on the box. And Eldon would never have gotten away with using AMTs packaging and slogans. And Revell also used illustrations in 1963, After 1962, they stopped doing annuals too. Sorry to drop precipitation on everyone's cavalcade. -

Great color choices. The white interior sets off the turquoise just right! If I may I add, the rear package deck should be black not white. Factory would never build cars with white dashboards and rear decks - too much blinding reflection in the important windows. Back in the day, my parents had a Marina Turquoise 66 Tempest with matching interior. Gorgeous car, I was sad when they traded it in. I later was glad it wasn't a GTO - I would have been mortified if they got rid of one of those! My dad had told me he would've bought a GTO, but he couldn't get it with a bench seat and my mom liked to sit next to him when they drove. Va Va Va voom!
