  1. And FSM never published the article? It's so obvious why I don't subscribe to them. ? Maybe you should have lit up a tank?
  2. I have a few copies of this kit, and none of them have a correct grille. I think it was just touched up on the original box. I had a hard time getting excited about this kit. There are proportion issues that bother me about it. The front doghouse is too short, the doors are too long and the rear backlight is too steep. I started a project with it. Fixing the proportions by moving the front door lines back about 3/16" and moving back the windshield, A-pillars and vent windows the same amount. Add length to the back of the hood and fenders. I also fixed the back window by leaning the top of it in and taking a section off of the roof. I added trim to the edges to make the moulding. A lot of work for such a mediocre kit! The upside of it is it has the best kidney bean mags of any kit I've ever seen.
  3. What shade is the purple you used? It matches the decals pretty good!
  4. Can you say "Major Licensing Agreement"? I Reckon Paul, Ringo and the estates of John and George would have a lot to say about their likenesses on any products. Probably why they haven't been reissued since.
  5. Alan, very well written and balanced story about Geo. I've heard both sides of the coin, but I never knew the man so I couldn't say who he really was. Personally, I disliked his narcissistic self-promotion and how he'd buy old customs, clean them up and then take credit for building them. However, I have to give him credit for being a photographer and historically documenting so many Kustom Kars that would have been lost to the sands of time. He also knew how to hire talented builders that went on to create great and lasting work. He definitely knew how to promote the culture!
  6. With a small block 350, there's always a lot you can do to wake'er up without ruining the originality.
  7. Don't hear many builders committing to build in that scale exclusively! That might be an interesting thread: "Name all the kits made in 1/28th scale."
  8. 3d printers are taking the place of manufacturers. These bikes look great! Check out those spokes - Amazing!
  9. Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!! Looks awesome! I like the Peterbilt that Peter-built. ?
  10. Have any of these been mentioned? Funny, Japanese makers don't seem to have a problem putting money into tooling "limited interest" subjects.
  11. I know the techniques are the same, but the subject matter - ?. Besides I've thought about doing a full lit up rig and trailer, but find it to be a daunting task.
  12. I've had really good luck with this paint on top of dupli-color automotive touch-up paints. It's easily available at Home Depot for around $6. Dries fast, smooth and hard. Perfect for polishing.
  13. Actually, if somebody would do an article on lighting up a big rig or something like that, I'd find that a worthwhile read!
  14. And everytime it comes up, there's always a cynic. We're just having fun dreaming about "what if", there's no harm in that! If oddball cars bankrupted, then why is there a 76 Gran Torino, 90s Volvo wagon, a Porsche tractor, 77 Pacer or even some of the bizarre, one-off kits that Japanese kit makers seem to be able justify. BTW, I'd like a split-window Beetle. I also like the Saab S93 turbo conv. or even a Sonett III. I'd be interested in alternate Ford barges based on the Gran Torino platform. More GM variations from the Monte Carlo snap. Or even Omega, Ventura or Apollo clones from the Nova tool. See this is just fun. Call it "thinking out loud". It might be futile, but it sure gets the creative juices going.
  15. Funny, I noticed that too!
  16. How come Revell couldn't have done this? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
  17. The question has just been answered.
  18. Weren't there rumors going around that The Kat's were considering bringing back the '28 sedan? Hope that comes to pass someday.
  19. Question, Why is the #68 car on fire? Maybe it's the burning wreckage in the background of #71. ? And what's with the Matra looking like it's going to do a power slide off the track? ?
  20. I like the black duct tape idea. Or maybe do it with 2 pieces of electrical tape stuck together and cut into strips. I would not use latex balloons or rubber bands. Latex shrivels up and becomes gummy. And does anybody remember what happens to rubber bands when they get old? They deteriorate and crumble apart.
  21. Just post a search in the wanted section. I'm sure somebody can help you with that.
  22. Oh, you mean a NEW tool. I thought you meant reissue the old AMT. Which just came back recently. I think Revell could have the easiest time with this. Just take the convertible kit, make a hardtop body - done! Please add a GT option package with a pony interior for added appeal, Please.
  23. I'm in for 2 or 3! ❤Love those Pontiacs❤
