  1. Good info on the truck. I'll keep researching.
  2. See, that looks like what I was thinking! Looks very utilitarian. With the Garwood unit, I think the angle of the box would match the back of the cab. This is a good visual reference, I think I'm going to pursue it when the kit comes out. And then I'll use the Ford for something else.
  3. I never heard the album, but I also never forgot the car on the cover. That should buff right out!
  4. Wait a minute! You mean somebody's in a lab watching us through a microscope? Oohhh Scary. ??
  5. Thanks Snake. Like I said, I'm no good at work in progress builds. I've got too many irons in the fire and too many ideas in my head, so I'm probably going to leave this open-ended. I may update with a little more finishing touches, but I mostly wanted to share what I found as a way to improve the lousy roof on an otherwise great kit! This job took me about 30-45 minutes to fix and makes the entire car look better. Salud!
  6. Or do you use the internal slime as stickum to keep the cars from rolling OFF the shelf?
  7. Not sure if this is in the right location. But.... I don't do WIP builds, I just like building. I may not finish the project, but I want to share my techniques and tips for others benefit. So please enjoy! Why does the roof of the Revell 65 Malibu SS look so wrong? Some say it's the curve of the rear quarter window, but its more than that. The roof looks swollen and puffy instead of sleek and graceful. Compare the real thing with the kit I have on hand. Yes the side window drip rails are perfectly straight, instead of curving slightly down from the front to back. But why does the kit roof have so much of a crown? Almost like a sedan roof. Why are the C pillars rounded instead of flat? The roof edges should have corners. And finally, why is the rear window too short for the roof. That one's obvious! First off, I took a sanding stick and flattened out the sides of the C pillars, being careful to remove the drip rail and make corners on the roofline. After that was done, I noticed the drip rail was originally too low anyway, so I took that as an opportunity to slightly raise the side window opening and give it some curve. The lines are drawn on to show where the roofline now has a corner and that the window has the same curve to it. A small strip of evergreen will be attached to replace the drip rail. Notice how I block sanded down the crown of the roof to flatten it and take out the excessive waterfall out of the top of the rear window opening. Before After Lastly, I marked how short the original window opening is by drawing and scribing a line about 3/16" above the window. I personally used a razor saw to run a small groove line where the new window trim will be. Pencil line is drawn where the grooves are. I will then remove the plastic covering the opening up to about 1/16" below the groove. This will be the new trim around the new window opening. Finished results.
  8. Joe, is there a kit that has an appropriate Cummins? Or is there a kit engine that would visually fit the part? It's not that it has to REALLY pull a load, anyway. I'm reading that the 413 in a car is not the same as the truck block. But is there any visual difference? I'm not that knowledgeable about heavy truck details, so I don't want to build this wrong.
  9. I did too, that's why I contemplated doing it. I just didn't want to build something that wasn't even feasible in real life. I suppose I could build it with a bigger engine to compensate for the load rating. Any ideas what would be an appropriate mill for the era? And dont say HEMI! ?
  10. And since we know Round 2 spent some time bringing back the old Datsun pickup, why not give it one more go-round with this one. Box art was magnetic for me as a youngster and I remember having to sneak this kit into the house as I wasn't supposed to be bringing more junk home!
  11. We haven't seen this one in a while. While I personally would like to see it include decals for these models.
  12. I haven't heard anyone mention this gem. And my absolute favorite. I want to find another one to relive my youth. And finally, Not that I'd want to see this aberration come back, but it was the last of the flat-nosed Elkys in kit form from MPC. It is the final incarnation before it was permanently altered into the 86 SS version we're so familiar with. In my estimation, Round 2 could easily bring back any of these variations by simply making a separate new nose cap to attach to the front and an optional bench seat from the monster truck issue. The rest of the kit was pretty much unchanged from year to year.
  13. I tried researching that one too, but came up empty. Looks like it's flight of fancy. I have thought about putting it on a regular pickup and trying to "gussie" it up to look legitimate. It's too small for the Dodge, I think.
  14. I've got a few of his products. Great stuff! Highly recommended.
  15. Kudos to both of them. I always considered building a 1:1 car as working on a model in its largest form! In fact a lot of the skills I learned building models, I have put to use rebuilding a car.
  16. Good information, Joe. Guess I'll have to pass on that idea.
  17. The Camaro and Cuda need to be cleaned and preserved as they are. Too nice to be considered glue bombs!
  18. I've been looking online for any pictures, but I haven't found any. I'm thinking it would be cool to put the future coming Garwood refuse truck onto a Dodge cab. Anybody know if this has ever been built in real life? Pictures available?
  19. Ah, the 60s Pontiacs. Oh how I wish manufacturer's would crank out more of those. I love them even more than similar Chevys!
  20. I've always wanted to build a Super Pak Volare, but have yet to acquire one. Might have to convert one from a more common 77 annual. Yours looks great, Steve!
  21. Those seats look great! Centers look like in-scale cloth and the outers look like leather or vinyl.
  22. Well, I enjoyed it. Better to get back on track of seeing pictures rather than listen to the back-and-forth diatribe of "to build or not to build them".
  23. "Anyone who paints his truck like that would show up to a funeral dressed in feathers!" "Send bill to Big Enos Burdette." "Burdette, B.E.R.? B.U.R... Burdette, B... Oh, hell I got ta go!"
  24. Now, that's what restoring a glue bomb is all about! A gem from junk! I wish you had a before picture of it. Looks awesome, Bill.
  25. You got that right!!!
