  1. I never knew RC raced cars. Reminds me of another country artist who liked to drive fast in a circle, Marty Robbins. Boy those southern musicians sure liked to drive fast! You'd think they were hiding something in their trunk while running away from the cops.
  2. Is that the same Roy Clark of "HeeHaw" fame?
  3. How were they ruined? Typically, old AMT decals shatter when put into water and used. If this is what happened, try spraying the decals with clear to seal them before using them on the car. You will then have to cut the decals close to the image before dipping them in water.
  4. 6 Steve, I think you just need to stretch the frame in front of the transmission mount and move the motor mounts back to match. The engine setback on the GP is significant, look at the underhood especially the fan shroud. Quite a bit away from the radiator.
  5. I need friends like that!!! ? Especially the 60 Buick, I've got all the parts to build one - except the body! Anyone know where to find some "hen's teeth"?
  6. Man, I can sure appreciate guys who build wooden planes like that. That must take a looonng time to finish. Same with wooden plank-on-frame ships! We plastic builders have it easy!
  7. I think they maybe look like this, but without the spinners Chris may be correct, the Polar Lights GTO probably has the closest look to these.
  8. At the time, the 69 Grand Prix was said to have the longest hood in the industry. And since the main body shell/understructure was basically a Chevelle/GTO/Monte Carlo/Cutlass fuselage, the frame length had to be made up forward of the firewall, behind the control arms. I had started a project using a 72 GP resin body and the aforementioned 70 Monte kit. After extending the frame under the floorboard to match the wheelbase (a very small amount, BTW) and using the underhood parts along with the floorpan of the Monte Carlo, I was able to get a presentable set up for the chassis. My stumbling block turned out to be the upper cowl-to-hood fit and the bottom fender liner/frame interference, which pushed the suspension down too far for a satisfactory ride height. So the project stopped. Steve, I would be excited to see you tackle the 69, as I have a vested interest in seeing how you deal with these issues. Can't wait to see you start this one! I can post pics of my stalled project if you need them.
  9. A 59 Cadillac fiberglass boat would look neat like that!
  10. Thanks for the information. I haven't sprayed acrylics before because I wasn't sure what to use for paint reducer and what ratio. Your little tutorial gives me a good reference point to start trying! Very Kwell!! as you say.
  11. Leaves spun in the blender - with a great idea! If my wife caught me doing that, I'd be the LATE Mr. Oldcarfan27! ?
  12. Inspiring build, makes me want to do something with mine.
  13. Looks great! Held up well for being almost 40 years old.
  14. Wasn't there a rumor a while back of Round 2 thinking about resurrecting this gem? Word was, they had the body and interior parts but couldn't find the rest. This, along with the 8in1 33 Chevy delivery would really be a coup for many of us ol' fogies out there. And I think the young pups would like them too!
  15. It'll be more w/ shipping. But I do agree it's time for a reissue. I wonder if Model King has an agreement with the companies not to reissue it before a certain amount of time. There are quite a few I'd like to see back again. I'm wanting to see this, the 69 Buick Wildcat and the Open Road Camper. Probably others that I can't remember right now.
  16. Looks great, John. Please add a picture to the "Vantasies" thread.
  17. If the plastic idea doesn't pan out, there's always a shot with a thicker sheet of aluminum or tin. Bend curves around a dowel, trim ends and epoxy end caps to taste. Add garnish and serve.
  18. Ok, understood Steve. But why run the rest of us down for trying to offer serious advice.
  19. Curious Yellow is a very curious color. In some lights it looks green and in bright daylight it looks yellow. The Krylon paint captures this effect pretty well. I used it on a 71 Cuda I built and it matches all references I've seen.
  20. Well it appears that this kit doesn't have a visible gas tank, so I'm going to assume that it is under the front seats. So unless I install a tank behind the rear axle, It's going to be pre '72. The kit includes two dash panels. One with the single chrome speedometer and another with gauges, switches and glove compartment. But neither have the dash pad. So can't peg down a year from the dash. Engine is the Hurricane 4 cylinder, so that would explain the short nose. Thus also making it pre '72. Looks like it would take more work than I'm willing to invest to update it, so I'll have to build it as a 71 or earlier. Since there aren't any side marker lights, It's probably a pre '68. But I could add those. Regardless, there is no way this can be built as Daisy's Jeep. Still a cool kit of an earlier Jeep though. Think I'll need to find some smaller snow tires and go with a standard edition.
  21. Take a look at Steve Guthmiller's current '68 Coronet project (page 21) and see if this is the effect you're looking for on your exhaust.
