  1. Problem is, it can't go that far. It's always tethered to the space station, for oxygen. ?
  2. I gotta ask - With the size that it is, How much is shipping? And where would you put it once you got it?
  3. Guess you could say you got "snake bit". Or maybe you've got a "snake pit".
  4. Ooohh, I love going through those boxes of parts underneath the tables at kit shows. So fun to rummage through to find unusual treasures. Sometimes I'd make an offer for the whole box, just to have fun sorting through it later.
  5. I'm liking the skeleton interior detail. For making those bare bones racers! Or abandoned junkers.. ?
  6. I've seen this box before, never knew it was a plastic kit. Being from Tonka, I thought it was metal or die-cast and therefore very simplified. I always thought the display looked a little inaccurate - judging by where the truck is in the street, how far the station doors open out and where the police man is standing, how on earth would that crew ever be able to make that sharp of a turn to go down the street in a hurry? They would have to hit the pole, take out a door or possibly run right into the building across the street. Maybe the cop is trying to direct them out safely? Sure isn't a good situation to be in to quickly get to a fire! Just sayin'
  7. Great rig, looks real!
  8. I sure wouldn't want to be those guys on top if that load ever got loose.
  9. Nah, that license ran out. But they do have a Hot Wheels license..... ?
  10. If you're not interested in it, you could always put it up for trade here. There's a few folks here that seem to dig these show rods. I'm sure somebody here could offer you something that's more to your liking!
  11. That would be our luck. Johans are gone forever, but Palmers would be found. And that's where it should stay!
  12. Yeah but those cars weren't going 75+ mph with NO FLOORS! Imagine if either of his feet slipped while on the freeway. ?
  13. Sorry Farrah, this discussion took a turn.
  14. Oops, my apologies to Robert. I thought I had read he had passed. Glad to hear he's still doing well!
  15. This one needs to come back. With all of the original optional parts and this box art!
  16. Sad to hear. I've been watching reruns on MeTV lately and the show still holds up! Now that leaves Dr Kelley Bracket, Dr Joe Early, Nurse Dixie McCall, Battalion Chief Conrad Sorenson, Capt Stanley, Chief McConnikee and now Chet Kelly have gone on to that great firehouse in the sky. But we still have Firemen Roy Desoto, Johnny Gage, Marco Lopez and Mike Stoker (the only real fireman in the show and the one who drove Engine 51 in all the scenes). Greatest part of the whole series, being produced by Jack "Dragnet" Webb, was that the premise was based on the actual beginnings of the Paramedic Department in Los Angeles in the early 70s and that a lot of the stories dealt with how it all began and based the episodes on real life situations. It also was the inspiration for many folks to take up a helmet and join firefighting as a career! I'd say that show had a remarkable influence on society and may have even actually saved a few lives! I doubt that Friends, The Simpson's, Two and a half Men or more modern Television shows can say that!
  17. You have to consider it a labor of love. You persevere because you like the subject matter.
  18. Great information and great website Bill. I bought some LEDs from Radio Shack a while back, but when I tried to use them, they fried. I was told that you needed to use resistors to bring down current for them. After that, I never tried any more until I completely understood how they worked. I've even thought about buying some cheap LED flashlights to use as parts.
  19. I've been wanting to build something with lights on it. Maybe a big rig, a decked out custom van or a fully lit emergency vehicle. My question is to those who have successfully conquered this task. What kind of lighting did you use, where did you purchase the supplies, where did you store the lights, fiber opt & power for the illumination and do you have any photos to show us how it came out? I've seen some photos of it having been done, I just want to know how. I've heard you need circuit boards and resistors for LEDs, but fiber optic strands take up a lot of space and aren't very flexible in tight spaces. Show us your secrets!
  20. ...and the seats and the A-pillars and the door handles and the ride height, etc, etc, etc. I'm just glad at least it's not ANOTHER real Charger that bit the dust. I think the one on the roof of the studio fared the weather in better shape. And I'm also glad that John is able to look at the bright side and not take it all too serious. He's a good guy!
  21. True, I can get excited about the subjects he sponsors, but he really needs to let someone with experience do the boxes!
  22. This is one of my favorite threads. Love it when it gets revived!
  23. The 2wd was apparently to keep the center of gravity low with the large slide-in camper installed. Can you imagine how top heavy it would've been with a large camper AND a 4x4 lift. As far as the lower trim goes, it was for the XLT trim package and it was available all the way to 1979. And a 1977 model
