  1. Pinco? How 'bout Ponco, Brinco or Pronto? No matter what you call it, I like the execution. I think I've seen a few in real life. Probably the only way a Pinto would ever be saved!
  2. Is the six in the 1/25 36 Chevy a lot smaller in the Monogram kit? It's definitely more in the era.
  3. I typed in "air and space museum lunar lander" and I found lots of shots of the LM on display in Washington DC. Looks like there's a lot of good detailed angles of it (except the bottom) including all the metallic shades and textures. This ought to be fun!
  4. Maybe they put the decals on backwards - left to right, right to left. I agree, looks overloaded and tippy as it is.
  5. Great suggestions, guys! I like the Rolos foil idea, any excuse to eat them. We might practice with aluminum foil first. Plaster of Paris and grout are great solutions for the ground. Pete, that's a very useful picture. I didn't find any pics of the LEM in color. Mr. Rodent Great suggestions, guys! I like the Rolos foil idea, any excuse to eat them. Mr. Rodent, thanks for the link, that's gonna help a lot. Rob, that's a nice build, very detailed. Rusty, Please share that info if you can find it. Sounds cool!
  6. I've thought of this very mod for some time now and here's the way I was looking to go about it. I haven't done it yet, so plans may change. I planned on cutting the flares off flush with the fender and smooth it off. Then, at that point, deciding if the openings are too big or not, possibly closing the wheelwell gap with sheet plastic and then adding a thin trim piece to recreate the subtle flare.
  7. For a Christmas gift, we gave our son this kit. As it's an old tool, I'm sure some folks here have built it in the past. I have a couple questions on it. Since the kit comes with a sheet of Mylar film to represent the insulation blanket, how does it get attached to the plastic parts? Instructions say to "cement" it in place, but I get flashbacks of model gluing fabric to interior seats and creating a lumpy mess! There's got to be a more professional way than tube glue for this. Second question, I'm trying to think of a fine grain material to use as "moon dirt" on the base. We want it to look like powder, but not smooth like paint. I thought of using flour, but I think the bugs would like that too much! Third question, besides the gold foil areas, what colors are the best to represent the metals used on the rest of the lander? Instructions are very vague and the only pictures I can find online of the real one are in black and white. No color film on the moon, I guess. Any advice would be welcomed.
  8. Yeah, but this isn't what the kit is.
  9. Nice graphics, gives the car a sense of motion.
  10. It's the Otaki/Arii 1/24 kit.
  11. Well at least it leaves one hand free for the cell phone! And can you imagine steering with the left hand and shifting with the right? Talk about multitasking.
  12. How about a "ravine find" Lambo?
  13. I have a hard enough time accepting driverless cars, don't get me started on the feasibility of simply driving by remote control. Guess I need the tactile sensation of actually controlling a car!
  14. Well, since the Galaxie isn't complete and obviously has the wrong parts you might as well dump it. Just send it to me, I'll pay the postage! ??
  15. I'm glad we got one that has that fun attitude and is so people friendly!
  16. Try to align the piece that fell off back to the location on the sprue as you attach the support strip to the frame. Or match it with the opposite side after you have fixed that one. You want all the attachment points to line up when you do build the frame.
  17. Why can't they use a similar formula like Johan used on their whitewall tires? They were hard, but they never melted plastic.
  18. I've had to do repairs like this. First, DO NOT REMOVE THE PARTS FROM THE SPRUE YET! They are in the position they need to be in for the repair. Second, back the frame with a strip of plastic for alignment and strength. Once the parts have set, fill in the gaps with good fitting pieces to fill in the voids. Trim and sand to shape. I use Krazy glue as it sets fast and is strong. Its also as solid as the plastic and won't shrink later. It also works as a minor gap filler.
  19. This one just adopted us last September. She's about seven months old. My wife and daughter went to the shelter to check out available pets and this one came right up to the window and fell asleep on my daughter's shoulder. They said she was brought in as a stray the day before, so we were the first to see her. She obviously wasn't abused, because she trusts us completely. We named her Maple because she's got all kinds of swirl patterns. She's a beautiful tortoise shell cat and she's super friendly and confident. She enjoys being held, scratched and cuddled. She has the softest coat and the fluffiest tail we've ever felt on a cat and she doesn't mind baths, in fact, she has fun in them. She is not skiddish at all and is not afraid of anything! I think she's part puppy. Online descriptions say that Torties are known have catitude and this one is loaded with it! She loves mock hunting, playing with toys and stalking and chasing Curious our 6yr old Tuxedo short hair. Curious tolerates her and even though she hisses at Maple, Maple keeps right with her, won't back down or be intimidated. This one has everyone's heart in the house and gives love to all of us. She's definitely a happy blessing to us! Our nicknames for her are Maple Kit(kitten) and Fluffy Tail. She's the most people friendly cat I've ever seen. I can't stand snobby cats and I wasn't much of a cat person before her.
  20. That's a postcard picture right there!
  21. I have the first three - $1.88 So between you and me, were all set!
  22. That's my point. After all the custom work that went into it, wouldn't it be ironic if they used junkyard taillights!
  23. Is that Cougar taillights on the 'Spada? As for the second one, with the cambered wheels - Gag Me! ?
  24. If it's not going to be functional, why not try paper or parchment done in folds to mimic the fabric in the down position?
  25. Gorgeous paint!
