AMT '65 Impala box art custom built with Revell kit
Oldcarfan27 replied to Can-Con's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Why not fill in the gap between the seat and base with epoxy putty (like clay) and make it look upholstered? Then fill in the seat area with diamond tuck. Just needs to have the transition filled out. It almost looks like a 60's custom job. -

AMT Phantom Ford Van

Looks like you fixed the goof without having to start over, good job! What kind of clear did you use? Seems weird that Tamiya clear wouldn't be compatible with their own paints. -
Turning the '62 Thunderbird into a coupe?
Oldcarfan27 replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Since vintage Tbird annuals aren't exactly falling from trees, I'd suggest more common sources. How about stretching a 57 Tbird roof? Or trying to sand down the original convertible top. Maybe try cutting down a Revell 58 Tbird roof. My personal favorite would be to graft the roof from a 60 Starliner, as that roof compliments the lines of the Rocketbird perfectly. A close second would be a 62 Chevy bubble top. Or maybe a 57 Ford roof. Possibly a 59 Impala roof. Or if you really want something different, how 'bout this! Lots of choices if you're doing a custom anyway. -

Those look great! -
Bugged out headlights are part of the 65s styling and quad-box taillights also identify it as 1965. And as far as the sedan roof goes, it looks like it was available that year too. Doug Thorley's "Chevy 2 Much" was a 64 and has a different grille, taillights, back window and altered wheelbase, so this kit can't recreate that car.

I wouldn't call it an "unloading", as I don't think this kit has a very devoted collectible following. More like someone cleaning out the junk in their basement and trying to make a few bucks before tossing the remains. I just posted the pictures to show what we should be getting when it comes out.

You did a great job on it. Color looks authentic. Shows that it is possible to make a nice model from this sows ear!

These 2 are my favorite shots! If they had a driver in them, they look like they'd be racing down the road in a movie scene.

You did well on that shell, came out perfect. Looks like a roadside assistance vehicle for the CNTL fleet. -
Lee, I ignore those "anonymous comments". If they can't say it on the open forum, then it means nothing to me. This has been quite an interesting topic. Found out more about Roy Clark and Hank Williams Jr. than I ever knew before!
