  1. I've had decent luck with the Xacto #10 blade. Not pointed, so no gouging. You can scrape a little below the surface and then fill with putty, or cut low to the surface and slice it off. Easier than the #11
  2. Might have to see a trainer to get professional advice.
  3. Amazing detail!
  4. I don't know what you didn't nail with your replica, other than the hubcaps, it looks spot on to me! Honestly, I think the hubcaps add to the clean look.
  5. This is reminding me of the old giant Tonka Winnebago I had when I was a kid. Lotsa great, fun memories with that toy. You gonna make the roof flip out to become an awning?
  6. Alan, I almost was going to offer suggestions on it, then I checked the date and figger'd he'd probably never see it anyway. I like the look though.
  7. Just keep him away from the video games, or you'll lose him forever! ?
  8. Looks cool. You got the base grille assembly (round headlights) with a tube grille added to it. Very effective!
  9. I like the matching trailer and the early style box camper. Very period look!
  10. Looks like Barris got ahold of that car too! He should have been a baker, considering all the gingerbread he makes.
  11. I've got one of those that I've been recently beating into submission trying to correct ALL of the inaccuracies in the body. I got it all fixed but then had a problem when I tried to redo the door hinges, so back in the box it went until I get inspired again. I like that yours survived all those decades intact - including the wheels and fragile door hinges. Still looks great!
  12. Beautiful Mercury. Nice color choice. I'm so glad AMT didn't butcher this tool into a dirt track racer all those years ago so we can still enjoy this kit today!
  13. For a twelve year old, you did a pretty good job! I envy that you were able to build 2 of them!
  14. Drooling !! This looks great so far. Keep posting detailed pics. What do you plan to use for the chassis frame? Scratchbuild?
  15. Great idea, looks like a concept GM would've used back in the 60s. One question is, will there be enough room to stick the engine between the front seats? Maybe it'll have to be a straight six? I think, factory-wise, the cargo doors would've been straight upright, with no slant, in order to load things into the back. But it's your vision - carry on as you see it.
  16. If it was so easy, why didn't Revell do it? Question is, why did they chop it in the first place? If Atlantis were to do tool work on this "backbirth" (as Snake says), my vote would be to go all the way back to this. This was the best rendition the tool had. The Ranchero is wrong anyway, as the roof and doors are too short. But the doors are exactly where they're supposed to be for the wagon. Revell never had confidence that the Country Squire restoration would bring a quick return on their investment, but sales show that their 2 door wagon has been a consistent seller since it as released 5 or so years ago, so seems to me there is still a market for these longroofs! Market it side by side with the 59 Skyliner and they'd have a winner. I agree to that! Especially the Lincoln Continental Mark II, an absolute classic! But all of them would be great to see.
  17. I've gotten leftover retail display signs from my work when they throw them away. It's either PVC or styrene plastic. Pretty sure the white sheets I get are polystyrene and the black stiff sheets are PVC, because when I cut it, it seems softer on the inside than the outside. I use super glue to bond them and the black PVC joint is very strong with super glue. Both work great for model building, the signs come in different thicknesses and best of all they're free!
  18. Man that brings back memories, mine had all that stuff! Wish I had kept it.
  19. Agreed, take off the Challenger nose and I'm in!
  20. I've built the Monogram kit, nice easy build. Even though I have a couple of the AMT kits, I've never had the desire to build one. Most of the finished ones I've seen never looked right to me and I just didn't lust after the 1:1 enough to bother correcting all of the issues with it. Ride height was one problem, as well as the wheels sticking out and the headlight buckets look too small. The clear plastic headlight covers didn't help either. I forgot about the side trim running uphill. I think I read that was a goof since day one.
  21. That's quite an accomplishment! Did you sleep at all last year? BTW, didn't you also do a pickup to match the big rig fleet?
  22. Build quality and paint are top notch! I really like the rusty finish on the fifth wheel - looks realistic.
  23. Those are funny! My favorite is the first one. "A flush beats a full house" That's for sure!
  24. Nice car. Glad to see you were watching Gomer Pyle at the time.
  25. Very elegant, looks real!
