  1. I don't think mine had the chrome parts because I remember using those parts from the Ranchero and hubcaps from the AMT Ford kit. Mine had some flash and required cleanup, can't recall Modelhaus kits needing work like that, but as you said, it was the only way I was going to be able to afford to build one. I was happy with it. I think Flintstone makes a one piece body of one, but I don't know if it includes the seats and other wagon paraphernalia. I did like the challenge of the multi-piece body though. I missed out on the VW deluxe van kit the seller had at the same time, but it built up the same way.
  2. Duck, Duck Go is my friend. Go to images. I'll type in the car I'm interested in (ex: 53 Ford Victoria). Or I'll add specific details (53 Ford Victoria model kit), (custom 53 Ford Victoria), (53 Ford Victoria gasser) or (1970s street freak cars). I'll usually end up on H.A.M.B., real car auction sites, classic car dealers, Model Cars Magazine website or Pinterest. Just type in "Paul Hettick" and see what kind of inspiration a replica stock builder can find! Or "George Barris customs" if you fancy 50s-60s era. Or "TV and Movie cars", etc. I haven't been to a magazine stand in years.
  3. Decades ago I bought a resin copy of this kit. It had the multi-piece body, all the unique Squire parts and all. It was meant to use the Ranchero as a donor for the basic chassis, engine and chrome. I built it and enjoyed it like I was building an original Revell kit. I wish I knew who made it. I'd like to find another one. Anyone recall the maker?
  4. Look at the boxes, the kits are not any better! At least it's truth in advertising, you can see exactly what it is that you're getting. From what I remember, they were extremely simplified with rudimentary details and large wire axles. Bodies were boxy and very inaccurate. Decals were probably the best part. The irony was that Monogram issued their kits at around the same time and blew ERTL's efforts totally out of the water!
  5. I predict Atlantis has these, as I doubt the new Revell has any use for subjects like this. I too would enjoy seeing all versions of it coming back! Especially "Der Guber Wagon" and "Meter Cheater". I think it'd be fun (although probably impractical) to make a dually tow truck out of "Tbone Stake".
  6. I think they're in the AMT 67 Shelby GT350 too.
  7. You're so right. I bought one, not because of the box art which I couldn't stomach, but because a friend showed me his and I liked the phaeton body style. Everything about this box is wrong. Sanded off details, 4x4 tread tires, radical roof chop and boring graphics on trendy paint job. Very 80s, for sure. Not to be all negative, but compare it with previous issues... Now these inspire me to build!
  8. I'm sorry, but this truck does nothing for me. Looks like a cheese grater on wheels!
  9. Have they hit all the model years with this kit?
  10. Gotta wonder how many of them saw battle in Europe or South Pacific?
  11. Model looks great, but one thing you should do is crop out the real car from the pictures. It detracts from the main subject. However, the other photos with the neighborhood background look good.
  12. That car looks insanely wicked!! Great job!
  13. My point exactly!
  14. I like the pill bottle idea, I may use that. But I probably want to leave them clear. Sounds like it would be cool to show off the wheels and suspension detail. The woodgrain detail came out great!
  15. Which one's Curly?
  16. Looking forward to the 69, but I'd really like the IROC Z next to it! ?
  17. Excellent color choice and the wheels give it a perfect "day two" look.
  18. Looks like you found used panels in every color the car originally came in. Colors look pretty accurate too!
  19. I like the car, HAAAATE the commercials! Limu Emu slogan is nothing. My friend, who used to have an account at Washington Mutual Bank, would tell me he had to get some money from "Wash Mutt"!
  20. From the ERTL "kitchen floor series", with the ever desirable distorted angles, badly finished details and the occasional wide track tires. Honorable mention goes to this one for false advertising - putting an original annual on the box with an atrocious retooling inside. The kit would never even come close to looking like this!
  21. Enjoy these ones!: Why did ERTL even bother, did anyone even buy these things?
  22. Colors to choose from. I also think I've found where the box illustration came from.
  23. To be absolutely correct, a Delorean should be Pontiac powered!
  24. With all the talk lately about the upcoming "Custom 68 Corvette", I'd be interested in seeing this one come back as a "Custom 66 Mustang Convertible".
  25. Why would you even think about getting rid of it?!
