  1. Not quite. While they did make Vega annual kits in those years, the Cosworth is a twin cam, fuel injected upgrade that almost cost double the amount of a standard Vega. Base Vega had 75hp and did 0-60 in 14.5 seconds. While the rev happy Cosworth had 110hp and 0-60 times in 10.5 seconds. A 35% increase in horsepower and a four second improvement in acceleration times was impressive given the climate of automotive performance in the dark 70s.
  2. Me, I'd like a Cosworth. Both of these could begin from the USA1 pro stock.
  3. Thanks for the idea. I don't have one of those kits to rob from but there seems to be a few choices that I can use to make do when the time comes. Plus, I'd have to come up with a solution for the 460 engine for this beast. Closest I can think of is the engine from the Firestone Super Stones F350 and I'm not sure yet if it's even correct. Thank You for asking. I've had a little setback with the body. I had painted and polished it in light metallic blue, but I noticed the hood and grille shapes were too flat and boxy and my OCD wouldn't let me move on from it, so I HAD to add a plastic sheet with a bend in it to represent the hood peak and also had to cut and bend the grille shell to give it more "point". Now I'm going back and forth with the putty, sanding and paint to refinish the area that was already finished! Utter madness, but it is moving forward.
  4. Wow, looks like they didn't do much to line up the woodgrain pattern, did they?
  5. Or offset the engine slightly to the passenger side for clearance.
  6. Ya think? How about an arrest for excessive speed? I wonder how many hotel, overnight stays they had with that luggage compartment? "Sorry dear, just enough for a toothbrush and some socks tonight, no room for soap, deodorant and BVDs. Well take those next trip."
  7. Uh, that's "Snake"! He doesn't answer to anything else. ?
  8. Makes sense - as long as they didn't have to drive anywhere.
  9. I also remember this one.
  10. The reputation of the real one probably followed into the model.
  11. ???? Way to go buddy! Keep it up, glad to see them.
  12. This is the way I'd like to see Revell reissue all of these kits. I miss all the classic 60s parts they had.
  13. While I have never been a fan of the car in the movie, I must say you did an excellent job of replicating it. I always thought it was a tacky and inappropriate car for a car chase movie and it really bothered me that they wasted a classic Merc ( or seven) just to smash it up. That being said, I do admire all the details you put into your build.
  14. Oops, my bad. I meant G gauge.
  15. Hope he doesn't replace your sheet of bad foil with (wait for it) another sheet of bad foil!
  16. Close, it's actually the car from Mod Squad TV series, early 70s.
  17. Now that's just sad! Looks like it was a pretty solid car before it was flipped. Look at those floorboards - no rust!
  18. Who's that? Revell/Monogram? I've never seen that kit box before. Does look nice.
  19. Nevermind, not quite the same.
  20. Sorry to go off the tracks, but is that Jerry Reed in the passenger seat? What movie is this from?
  21. That was going to be my question. I was always told it was illegal to have the driver and front passenger side glass tinted, even lightly. Yet I see more and more drivers with limo tint all the way around - and a few with it on the windshield. Now even PD can put dark tint on the front windows? Why even have laws if nobody listens to them? For the record, somebody gets in an accident with me and has all that glass obscured, is going to be getting a call to their insurance company. And I doubt it will go well with the driver.
  22. That's the most creative and best use I've seen of that kit! Looks great! Now find some way of making the 32 Ford Speedwagon look good. Mod Squad, perhaps?
