Many thanks guys!

Hi Harry, nicely done, looks great! From my personal experience I can fully agree on points 3 and 5 as stated above. Tamiya tape (as most other tapes) and the softeners contained therein will react with most types of paint, especially when applied for (too) long and in warm conditions. And yes, those Hiroboy painting masks can be a PITA. I used one for my Nissan GT-R R33 some weeks ago and found it to be very imprecise. The masks' shapes didn't really match the Tamiya glass parts, despite being specifically sold for that kit... ?

SEHR GUT... Great work, well done! ?

Hi Thomas, this Diablo looks very sweet, IMHO the GT is the perfect Diablo. I like the color, I have a jar of that same "mauve purple" paint from ZP on stock, probably to do a Diablo SV with it. I also like the way you did the clear coat. Many builders tend to "drown" the body and its panel lines in way too much/ too thick paint layers, yours looks just right. What's the reason you don't display the awesome 6 litre V12 engine? Btw, there is a false release date printed on the label shown in the first image: for the GT, it should be 1999 instead of 1990... ?

Many thanks guys, I appreciate your kind feedbacks. Thanks, Emre! Then you probably know the car inside and out! There was an orginal silver color available called Ascot Silver. I'm not sure, if this is the same color but at least the car in the image looks quite the same color I used: Fun fact: for the German market, there was a limited edition named after German soccer legend Franz Beckenbauer. Limited to 30 pcs. https://www.3si.org/threads/3000gt-franz-beckenbauer-edition.522560/

Hi guys, I built this old Tamiya kit that was in my stash for some 30-odd years. The body was lowered significantly and the wheels were replaced with 19 inch Advan wheels from Aoshima. Made my own exhausts too!

Great work as always Chang! Beautiful work all around, great classic choice of colors. Beautiful wheel and stance too. The improvements on the front and rear bumpers show in the overall result! One small thing though, the front spoiler lower lip is not correct either in the kit. It should have one open „vent“ on each side (one of which is only functional):

Hi Ludwig, great build with superb paint job and detaiing skills! Having known your fine builds especially of several Impala vintages through the last years, I must say these are among the best examples to show what be made of these nice Revell kits.

Hi guys, the R34 was great fun to build, so now I did the R33. Nice Tamiya kit of their typical quality, the basecoat is from Zero Paints, covered with 2K clear.

Great result! Everyone knows yellow is a color which is hard to get right. You DID get it right. I like the overall look of you M8, aswell as the other models!

Great model and the paint job just looks spot-on! This is one of my favorites of the modern-era front-engined Ferrari's, I have the kit in my stash too. I always figured I'd do it in metallic green some day (just like a real car that I saw some years ago), but then again, your model proves that it looks just great in red!

Many thanks guys. Yes, I believe I did a pretty clean build. But credit also goes to Tamiya... This kit is VERY close to perfect! -
I have been following this thread with quite some interest. I did not face problems with BMF not being adhesive (enough) but I noticed differences in thickness and "appearance", as far as the chrome brightness is concerned. The first time that I worked with this "new quality" was when I did my 1970 Plymouth GTX. The foil seemed to look too "chromy" and I was afraid it's too thick to lay it down and cut it properly. However, I was surprised to find that it looked real good and could be dealt with. The only difference now being that I switched my scalpel blades more often to make them cut through the "thick stuff" properly. However, this - or any kind of - BMF Chrome foil is very hard to come by here in Europe currently. I have some assumptions what could be the reason for that. The situation definitely worsened in the beginning of the Covid pandemic. So it's no surprise I am looking at self-made alternatives, especially as I am regularly using BMF as a masking material but would actually not require "genuine" BMF for that purpose. Some weeks ago I found the below tutorial on YT. I think it's interesting because it's actually about making sheets of adhesive foil for using later on, rather than the glue-and-apply-instantly procedure that was shown earlier in this thread. I did some testing myself with the "gold leaf bond" aswell as BMF adhesive but did not succeed yet. I used silicone paper aswell as plastic foil as a carrier material, but it's not been good yet. I believe the secret is in finding a carrier that will allow to apply the adhesive very evenly but still keep it from drying out over time.
