  1. Thanks nc buckeye! The kit comes with white and dark blue stripes.
  2. Thanks Robert! I wanted to paint it something other than blue, red, silver or white and I thought this color would stand out. The tonneou did come with the kit.

Very nice bug, I like the color you used on the wheels also!
  4. Very Nice! That's a beautiful blue color! I like all the little details.
  5. I just finished this today and wanted to take some outdoor pics while the sun was low in the sky. I may take some tomorrow when then sun is higher in the sky. I really wanted to put the white stripe decals on it. I tried putting the one on the hood (around the scoop) first, but it ripped as I was smoothing it out. And I had some trouble with the windshield and got a little glue in the top corners. Comments welcome!
  6. ......Bottom line...it's like building model cars. Do it for enjoyment, and never kid yourself about it being an investment...unless you luck into a barn-find exotic that'll bring millions at auction. I have a TR6 that I've owned since 1989. Took me 5 years to do a complete body-off restoration on it. I could probably sell it for what I have into it, maybe more. I also have a very original TR7, had it for only 18 months. I know that I will NEVER get out of it what I have into it. Like Ace-Garage Guy says, someone would never buy a TR7 for an investment, I did it for enjoyment because I love TRiumphs.
  7. No it's not a TR3. TR3s had much narrower grills and did not have exterior door handles. The headlights stuck out much further on TR3s. They were inset a bit on 3As and 3Bs. It is a TR3A or TR3B. It could be a '58. Cannot tell from the photos. A photo of the commission number ("VIN") could help identify the year. If it starts with "TS" it is a TR3A. If it starts with "TSF" it is a TR3B, which basically is an end of production TR3A. TR3: TR3A:
  8. Probabley a TR3A (verses a 3B) to be exact. Built between '57 and '62. I've seen others in much worse condition.

That is cool! My mother in law gave me a UGEARS "Dream Cabriolet" a couple years ago for Christmas. 735 pieces and 1/10 scale. Yours is giving me some inspiration to get it built!
  10. Nice TR7 Tim! You did a great job with those old decals. Did the rear view mirrors come with the kit? I built the Monogram TR7 a while back but it didn't come with the mirrors.
  11. You are correct, it was 4 pieces-left side, center, right side and the bulkhead.
  12. Thanks Bugatti Fan, it was definitely one of the most challenging builds I've done so far.
  13. A few years ago I built a 1/25 scale Lindberg Triumph GT6+ model. I originally built the GT6 with some "aftermarket" wide wheels and tires. After a while I thought it looked ridiculous and put the original kit wheels on it. Not an easy kit to build and many parts did not fit well.
  14. I learned to drive my dad's stick-shift Ford Pinto for the simple reason it was easy to parallel park during the driver's exam. Alternately I would have had to learn to parallel park a BIG automatic 1965 Ford Galaxie! 50 years later I still prefer small manual shift cars which is why I have two Triumphs.
  15. Looks great Hmann68!! The colors look fantastic! 😉 And that blower belt looks very realistic too-very creative use of the tape. I also had issues with the frame warping but somehow got it straightened out. And also like you I had issues with some of the body panels...I had to modify the ones on the sides, below the headers.
  16. Thanks Bugatti Fan. The Triumph Wedge Owners Association (TWOA) shows photos of TR7s and 8s on their website in all the colors they were available over the years. They do show a Pagent Blue TR7... However Pagent Blue is not shown as being available for the TR7 in any of the old Triumph "Paint and Trim Colours" brochures they have on the website. It is shown as being available for the Dolomite and Spitfire though of course.
  17. Yes they did! I built one a couple years ago. The kit is OK but not a lot of detail, its a curbside. Mine had a vinyl top, I sanded off the "vinyl texture" to make it a hard top.
  18. Thanks! Thank you! Actually it is BL Tahiti Blue. A friend of mine has a Dolomite but it's a drab gray color. As you likely know, the TR7 was designed as a FHC (fixed head coupe) because BL expected that the US was going to "outlaw" convertibles. It wasn't available as a DHC (drop head coupe or "convertible" until 3 years or so after it was introduced. And I agree, the chrome bumper MGBs look a lot better than the rubber bumper cars.
  19. It's not likely any of you are building a stock Triumph TR7 or TR8 but if you are, here is my original 14K mile TR7 for reference. Only the wheels are non-stock of course.
  20. Wow! I'd love to see that when it's done! I've seen a stretched, 4 door TR6 but never a stretched TR4.
