It was more an expansion of your thought with an extra degree of how nonexpert opinions can be useful within the context of my full reply. No offense was intended.

I have to disagree on this point, at least as far as model building goes. Just because someone isn't at an exceptional level doesn't mean they don't have anything to teach. First, anyone who has built for any amount of time has developed their own style, tools, and habits that could show others a thing or two. It might be something as simple as using a different type of glue that a viewer may not have considered. Second, if people only see the most beautiful builds they might think that the only options are "best of the best" and "total noob." I don't see it as celebrating mediocrity to let people know they can enjoy the hobby without being top-tier performers.
