  1. “Wing it” is what you have to do when your flea market kit is missing the instructions,
  2. Are there any true UV “adhesives” that will adhere to the materials we normally use? Something that would rival epoxy or CA? i have only used Bondic and RapidFix…neither of which stick well to smooth hard surfaces.?
  3. ? Great minds think alike! I’ve just been assembling the Callaway Corvette twin turbo engine to attempt to shoehorn it into the El Camino. So far it’s not looking like an easy fit?
  4. I prefer to use Tamiya Quick setting thin cement wherever possible. Small finicky parts I will pin also if possible. The only drawback to the Tamiya is that even the quickset takes quite a while to gain full strength. Once it does though it should be at least as strong as the styrene itself. After the Tamiya, I sometimes hit the perimeter of the joint with thin CA if I can’t wait.? The CA probably slows the solvent drying even more, but in the long run, it should make for a really strong joint.
  5. Beautiful work Dennis!??
  6. What do you use for glue when building tiny parts that require the strength to withstand some mild abuse, like steering components? Thanks, Greg.
  7. Thanks for the heads up Len. Would it maybe be better to glue the inner fenders to the body instead of the frame like they are on most kits?
  8. That looks mean already!?
  9. Yes Sir…California Wheels version. The PO must have thrown the wheels in there? The only ‘66 Nova I have is the AMT Resto Rods version, and it only had the one set of wheels and tires I believe.
  10. I am certainly no paint expert, but I know enamels can be thinned with lacquer thinner…but it smells!I use mostly lacquer, but am getting more into acrylics lately. I am using Vallejo airbrush cleaner for cleanup after spraying acrylics. It works nicely. Others may have their own concoctions?
  11. Gee, I can’t understand why it couldn’t compete with other luxury cars of the day??
  12. Thanks Mark. This Z-16 kit does not show any on the box or in the instructions, but these were in the box? Yes the door handles are nice…I think I will make a mold of those.? Thanks Keith, I don’t have any chevelle wagon kit, so the PO must have thrown them in.
  13. You might find it here? https://s7d2.scene7.com/is/content/Caterpillar/CM20210910-0b06e-6fd72 or here? https://www.veritread.com/specs/construction/crawler-tractors/caterpillar/d8h
  14. “IT” was a scary movie!?
  15. Thanks Mark. I Think all of these kits may have shared parts. Thanks Keith. I have that Malibu kit that I got, minus the engine and ? at the flea market also. The valences are definitely from the Malbu kit, but the suspension pieces aren’t shown in either Revell kit’s instructions.?
  16. Anyone know what kits these belong to? They were in with a Revell ‘66 El Camino that I got at a flea market. Thanks, Greg.
  17. I too would like to join in. I’d like to enter this ‘66 El Camino glue bomb I picked up a few years ago.
  18. Get some tiny pointed cotton swabs (like Tamiya?) for setting the foil into the creases and corners. I also have one of the Wife’s old eyeliner brushes that has a really soft rubber tip on it that I use to set the foil down over script and emblems…a soft eraser may work too?
  19. Nope, won’t be a Joker-Mobile. Just thought I’d put him in the pic since he showed up in a different kit I bought at the flea market. I just now cracked open the kit and am perusing the instructions. Lots of parts, but not a lot of build options other than grill and bumpers, two choices of hoods and fender skirts….only one set of tires.? The decals are nice! I’ll have to start googling this 1:1 and some builds on here to get ideas of where to go with it.?
  20. I lost a tiny part on my bench yesterday, so I started tidying up. I had a bunch of shallow round containers and lids that I was keeping BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in and just stuff everywhere. I went to Dollarama and bought a bunch of these square plastic trays. They stack and have either 2, 3, or 4 sections each. I was on a roll so I made this divider board to hold these round containers that BSI glue bottles come in.
  21. Well, I happen to have one.? It was probably one of the first kits I bought at Michaels (50% off coupon) when I got back into the hobby a few years back. Never was real big on that body style but….I just may give it a go.?
  22. I agree, foil is absolutely the best. And it’s not as hard to apply as you might think. The trick is to use a brand new blade and a very light, touch when trimming it. The Revell chrom paint is the best I have found, but still cannot be touched or polished after spraying.
  23. Looking real fine John!? I like the steelies better too.?
