  1. Thanks! The ‘62’s had body colored surrounds , and the ‘60’s were chrome I believe.
  2. This is a fun kit to build.? About the only mods I did was to add power disc brakes and different wheels and tires. Added seat belts and a different air cleaner as well. All comments welcome.? Build thread here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/183643-revell-‘62-corvette/
  3. Well I am pretty much finished with this one. I tried painting the windshield frame with the Revell chrome paint and it didn’t seem to want to dry…it looked fantastic when first sprayed, but by the time I installed the glass it looked like…not so good.? So I wound up foiling it instead. More pics here:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/185386-revell-‘62-corvette-roadster/ I really was disappointed with the side mirror as it was supplied, so I re-shaped it a bit and painted it with Molotow. That is pretty much it for this one. I just have to make up some plates for it now.
  4. Thanks Jim!?
  5. That is just plain beautiful!? I love the color, and those wheels look great on there.?
  6. Excellent job on the rust David. It looks so real you’d swear it was steel.??
  7. Nice work. Way to make use of less than stellar materials.?
  8. That’s what I do when jury rigging different wheels onto a model...or even the proper kit wheels. Pin them loosely, use 5 minute epoxy and block them straight and plumb until set. And I don’t want my models to roll anyway.
  9. Yes I did Carl, thanks. A little Tamiya fine polishing compound did the trick.?
  10. No…I have painted the roof gloss black, foil the trim, then clear coat the entire vehicle, then mask and spray flat clear on the roof. I have also cleared the entire car, foil, more clear, mask and spray the flat clear.
  11. Him no go to work today…him sick, said the wife to the receptionist at his workplace.
  12. That’s real purty!?
  13. She’s a beauty!??
  14. You might be able to foil it first then wipe the paint off of the foil similar to the method used on script. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/152097-bare-metal-foil-small-writing/
  15. Stance looks great to me Steve.??
  16. Diecasts are pretty much that point, and thankfully they haven’t killed this hobby. I could see a point where home 3D printing is so common that it is no longer commercially viable for the companies to produce kits?? Maybe they will jump into the 3D file game and offer complete detailed “file kits” that can be downloaded and printed at home. Sorry, this is getting a bit off topic now.?
  17. I have a huge compressor in my garage. The regulator that I use is just a cheap one from Princes Auto. You could attach something like this near your paint booth and run a hose from your compressor to the regulator inlet. Then an adapter fitting from the regulator outlet to your airbrush hose.
  18. Make yourself one of these out of a wire coat hanger and a block of wood.?
  19. I have two side doors and the Amazon driver left my parcel outside my fence on the sidewalk. He was too lazy to open the gate and walk another 5 steps to my doorstep. It is obviously not an enclosed yard that may harbour a dog. If I hadn’t checked online I would never have known it was delivered. Their customer service is terrible. Their chat feature won’t allow you to type anything…it only allows you to choose from their predetermined responses.? Rant over!
  20. No, that’s not the problem David. I have searched finished builds of this kit on here and although not as bad as in my photo, none of them seem to fit perfectly. I think my solution works well, but in the future I will do more test fitting before painting everything. Edit: I suppose it is possible that I didn’t have the seats located properly…but I think I did.?
  21. Great work on the suspension, and those brake calipers look fantastic.?
  22. Thanks Carl!? Some of the chrome in this kit is horrible! It’s too bad there is no quality control or cleanup of the parts before plating.? After paring all the barnacles off this windshield frame and smoothing the mold seams it is not possible to touch it up in my opinion. So…it’s in the pond right now, and once it is down to bare styrene I will try that new Revell chrome paint on it.
  23. I have not seen that product. 3M also makes a Trizact pad that is similar to the Infini, but it seems to have a “grain” to it…almost like a file. It doesn’t last as long in my experience either.
