Good scribing tool?
NOBLNG replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Actually, I think I will trade it in on something else.? I just made these scribers from some hobby blades by grinding the profile on my bench grinder. A little smoothing with a diamond file and they do a real nice square groove. The one on the right I thinned down to .012” (.3mm) from .020” (.5mm). -

I just picked up one of those Tamiya scribers yesterday. I am going to return it though because I don’t think it’s much different than my cheap Trumpeter scriber. The more expensive ones like Dusty shows look good but very pricey.? I will trade the Tamiya one in for this one. It is still expensive, but like the better Tamiya, it will do a flat bottom groove. I have also used the butt end of a #80 drill bit in a pin vise and it works very well….but the more tools the better.? -
Thank You everyone! It was a fun little kit.

Very nice clean little truck you’ve built there Pete. I like it a lot.? -
This is the Revell ‘77 CJ-7. I added a scratch built Optima battery and cables and scratch built brass hood hinges. I also added plug wires, partial brake lines, a winch cable, the outer seal at the base of the windshield and the front set of body mounts. Thanks for looking.?

Thanks Carl! Thanks Greg! Thanks Chaz! My first attempt was thin and patchy. So I sprayed a coat of Mr. Hobby flat clear on it to dull the gloss paint I used on the interior, and I hoped it would mask the bare patches. It didn’t!? I then did another coat of slightly thinned white glue, and this time the glue spread very nice and evenly. Then more embossing powder and when dried, another coat of flat clear. First layer after clear. After second layer and clear.

Thanks Steve. Thanks Jeremy. Thanks Francis. I finally found a method to getting the carpet looking decent. I agree, the more I look at these early Chargers, the more I like them.

Glad I and others were able to give you a heads up about some issues Jeremy. Could those wheels be centerlines? I know I have a set somewhere…but I have no idea what kit they belong to.

Wisconsin I believe, is know for its cheese.

I’ve been dragging my feet on this one. I found a little local craft store that has a whole bunch of colours of embossing powder so I managed to get the interior finished.
