Not what you would expect from the first build of the year at this website!
NOBLNG replied to Pete J.'s topic in Model Cars
Wow, Legos ain’t what they used to be! Nice job on it.? I too would like to wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery Pete. -

BMF under or over clear coat?
NOBLNG replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So you foil the bare plastic then swab the primer off before paint. Then again swab the paint off before the clear coat? That sounds like an awful lot of work.? -
You never know sometimes when you open a kit for the first time, what will be the outcome.

Nice work so far.? I’ve done one ‘36 and started another so I’m gonna pull up a chair.?

Blazer Crew Chief
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I got all the foiling done and another coat of clear on it. The kit tailgate hinges are pretty chintzy so I added metal pins and drilled into the tail light buckets…the lights will hide them. There is no trim around the tail lights so I made some with the BMF. When this coat of clear is good and dry, I will paint the black stripes on the side trim and tailgate. Under a brighter light it looks closer to the factory colour.? -

Tamiya 2 part epoxy putty
NOBLNG replied to Classicgas's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don’t know about thinning the Tamiya stuff? The Milliput can be made softer with a touch of water. I would wear vinyl or nitrile gloves rather than bare fingers for mixing it. It can be easily sculpted while soft and sanded or filed or drilled when hardened. Since it cures by chemical reaction rather than solvent evaporation, it has little or no shrinkage. The Tamiya does seem to be a tad harder now than the Milliput. The JB Kwik in the picture has never gotten hardened. -
Tamiya 2 part epoxy putty
NOBLNG replied to Classicgas's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It is basically the same as the Milliput fine. They both get rock hard when fully cured. I used Milliput on this roof. From my thread on them: “The Milliput is rock hard and sticks well. The Tamiya is still a little soft (I can dent it with my fingernail) but seems to adhere as well or better than the Milliput.” That was after 2 days if I recall and the Tamiya had soon hardened up as well. They both file and sand nicely. They could possibly be carved with a hobby knife. -
Time to get back to the bench.

Making Windshields and Windows Clearer
NOBLNG replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hobby shops sell it. Evergreen makes it and there are others. Or like Rick said, packaging…if you can find un-scratched sections. -
That 300B is one beautiful car and I think you’ve got a great start on it.? I’ll follow along ‘cause I think I can learn something here.

Some friends had two extra tickets to a Burton Cummings concert on New Years eve. It was his 75th birthday also and he put on a GREAT show! He was born and raised here in Winnipeg and now has the beautiful old Walker Theatre renamed after him.
