Thank you Larry!? Not sure I’d go that far…but thank you for the compliments Francis! I got lucky on the stance. It had a bit of a wobble so I had to “adjust” one front wheel a bit.? I think this kit is basically the same as the one you’re doing now, so check my build thread for the issues I had.

Thanks. Yes it is very stiff stuff and would not conform to any compound curves. It actually “pings” when you pull it off the backing paper.? I used it on the rear of my ‘66 Nova. There were some ejection pin marks that had to be sanded off so I had to cover them somehow. It did settle down surprisingly well over the Chevy II script.?

Just finished this one. It’s a nice looking little kit, but it has a few issues. The paint is Premier Apple Red decanted and airbrushed, and the roof is Tamiya LP-1. Clear coat is Mr. Hobby UV Cut. Well I am finished with this one. There is no rear view mirror in the kit and in my haste I didn’t grab one from the parts box.? The side mirror was poorly cast and broke apart, but to quote a popular movie line….”what’s behind you is not important!”? I did encounter a few issues with final assembly. I earlier thought there was no interference between the grill and radiator support, but there is if the rear wheels are properly centred in the wheel wells. Now, in order to slide the chassis far enough forward to center the wheels, I had to trim a bit of the interior tub under the rear seat. There are no nice glue points for the grill and rear bumper, so I tacked them in place with CA and then dripped some 5 minute epoxy in behind them to hold them securely. ?♂️ The chrome trim for the hood needs the lip trimmed off so that it will sit properly. And so I am done! See more pics here under glass: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/170459-amt-‘66-nova-resto-rod/

Keystones look good on just about anything! My Buddy had them on his dark green ‘69 Beaumont.?

I have this ultra bright chrome that I bought quite a while ago. I’ve never used it because it would look like someone took 180 grit sandpaper to your trim. ? But it can be sanded with some 800 or finer to make fairly decent looking brushed aluminum finish. This stuff is a lot thicker and more “metal” like than the good “new improved chrome”, and it’s not the same as the recent “chrome” that doesn’t stick well. I have to hang onto it when peeling it off or it curls like crazy. Maybe it won’t be wasted after all.?

That’s a really great looking Buick!?

She’s a beauty Bob! Nice work.?

Nice looking restoration so far!?

Mine are the ones from Italy. I’ll admit I don’t have a lot of experience with decals, so that may be a contributing factor. I am lucky that I didn’t try any further to smooth out the wrinkles or I may well have destroyed another one. The nose one curled up and became useless. That said, as they dried, the wrinkles shrank away and they look great…in my case anyways. No troubles with them lifting after they were dry, but I did clear coat them shortly after application.

Another Irk just now.? I got a phone call from someone posing to be with Amazon. I have an order in transit so I was interested in what it was about. He asked me if I ordered a smart phone. I said NO! Then he said “Let me help you cancel this order because if you don’t you will be in big trouble.” I knew then for certain he was attempting a scam!? I said NO, NO, THANKS and hung up. It is sad that these fraudsters prey on gullible or paranoid or slightly mixed up people.?

The weather forecast irks me! We are possibly getting up to 20” of snow and 70-90 kmh winds!? It is supposed to start tonight (Tuesday) and carry on into Thursday.?

Looking really nice!?

Absolutely beautiful work Paul! I like all the chrome work you’ve done.?

Thanks Guys!? The glass fit on this kit is terrible! I really should have taken the time to make some from clear sheet.? I’ve had to wet sand the roof three times but finally got it looking good enough I think. Man…black paint is tough to get right!? The seams on the rocker trim don’t line up with the door seams so I stripped the chrome and re-scribed one end of each of them and then foiled them. I tried scuffing the center section of the rear chrome trim to get it to look like brushed aluminum, but the ejection pin marks on it foiled my plan.? After smoothing the pin marks, I made some brushed foil by sanding some of the ultra brite stuff that I have. It coverd the pin marks and worked out pretty good I think.?

I picked up some hair clips for light clamping duties. They are aluminum and the tips can easily be bent to get parallel clamping surfaces regardless of how wide they are opened.

I too had trouble with the Revell ‘68 Chevelle decals. I may have had the water too warm?….but some of them floated right up off the paper and became horribly twisted. I managed to cut some replacements out of some un-needed decals in the kit. Others were wrinkled like crazy but smoothed themselves out once dried. I did cut some into smaller more manageable sections. It would be nice if they supplied a couple extras of the really delicate ones. It wouldn’t kill their profits.?

We dog sat a neighbour’s dog for a few hours yesterday. We were told he was somewhat afraid of men. He was playing with a stuffed toy when my wife playfully lunged at the toy. He grabbed it, ran across the room and leaped into my lap with it.?

Nice start on that one Dennis. I have a set of those curved files too that I use almost exclusively. I beveled the edges on one end so I can get tight into a 90 degree corner.?

Great work! It looks like a beautiful kit.?

Good to see another one of these in the works! I think that green will look great on it.?
