64 Dodge D100 Pickup Pro Street
NOBLNG replied to AmericanMuscleFan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Every little detail you add Francis is a major minor project in itself. You make it look so easy…I’d like to see the small pile of rejects and broken bits you must have laying around.? The fuel cell does indeed look like a poly tank and adds a nice bit of contrast. I’ll likely never see this in person so thanks for taking the time to document your build in this thread and all the fantastic photos! ??? -
These are what I have used. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/gofer-racing-20003-photo-etch-seatbelt-kit--1372644

Thanks Everyone for the nice comments!? Thanks! I got lucky there. I painted them semi gloss and they looked way too shiny…so I shot some flat clear over them.? Thanks! I hope the grill doesn’t give me trouble. (Edit: It did!) Apparently the rad cradle interferes with it which I didn’t check.? The turn signals are just a couple coats of Tamiya X-26 clear orange over the chrome. The tail lights are X-27 clear red and the backup lights are X-22 clear with just a touch of white added.

Radio antennas another dollar store money saver.

That’s nice! Do you have a build thread on it? -
Nope. I have only done one ‘32 deuce so far. I did just pick up the Revell ‘30 Ford Model A Coupe 2’n1 kit a couple of days ago. Is that the kit you’re working on? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/166875-‘32-deuce-coupe/#comment-2499055

I wet sanded most of the orange peel out of the paint. It’s not perfect but probably as good as any paint job I’ve done.? Also got the foil work done and the script painted. I should have foiled the script before paint….but too late.

Nice build, and a nice story.?

Front Grilles, Accent with Black
NOBLNG replied to RT6PK's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have used both the accent and flat or semi gloss acrylic paint. The accent seems to want to cling to the corners and not cover the flat areas so it needs more coats I find. The paint usually needs some cleanup and I like the finer Tamiya swabs on the left rather than Q-tips for that task. -
Excellent! It looks darn near real!?

That turned out absolutely beautiful! I love that green. All three of those are gorgeous!?

AMT ‘56 T-Bird engine swap?
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Guys! I do have a couple of those Monogram ‘37 Fords, so I’ll explore that option. I had thought of splicing in the entire front subframe of the Mustang but it didn’t seem to line up. I’ll re-examine that possibility too. -
I would like to swap this newer engine into the T-Bird but the upper A arms prevent me from getting it low enough to clear the hood. I could possibly swap in this later Mustang suspension? Or I could try to scratch build something. I don’t have a lot of donor kits so any advice or opinions appreciated!? Thanks in advance.

I was wondering how I was going to paint the script on my AMT Nova since it is very fine detail. I have tried pad printing raised detail using an eraser before with semi-ok results. Then I thought of this idea using a round refill for an eraser pencil. Just stick a piece of bent wire through a short chunk and you have a mini-roller. The paint is Model Master chrome silver enamel, but I think any paint should work. The first few tests look encouraging.?

It was a good day! I went to my LHS for some sanding sticks and photo etch saws.?While there I picked up a couple of paints and the Revell ‘30 Model A.? When I got home my first issue of MCM was in the mailbox and also my replacement windshield for the Revell ‘29 Model A.???

That was my first thought too, and maybe they do perform a function with the pro street floor pan. With this floor pan and firewall though, the firewall is up tight against the cowl in the above photo so unless I’ve done something wrong….? It does look like the whole thing should go up a bit since the edge of the floor pan hangs a bit below the rocker panel at the front.?
