  1. That is looking great. You certainly have some talents!
  2. I used .040 half round for the chrome trim and .030 half round for the seam on the vinyl. I sanded both slightly to get a half-oval shape.
  3. They are both done, but I will be setting them at different heights. I have often thought of sliding the passenger seat father forward also, but always wind up mounting them even. ?
  4. If those are all models, Johns been a busy Boy!
  5. Here’s a little trick I discovered for simulating expanded metal. This is the belt guard for the compressor in the “Joe’s Garage “ kit. I sprayed the aluminum first, then stretched a piece of fibreglass window screen diagonally and used it as a mask. Then I shot a lite coat of black on it.
  6. Very nicely done. I like the colour too!
  7. Detached the headrests on the Ferrari seats. Still need to trim the pins to length.
  8. Really fabulous work on these! Kudos on your talents and diligence to pull that off so perfectly!
  9. We got back from 10 days in Mexico on Friday, so this is day 4 of the currently prescribed 14 day self-quarantine. I am retired so normally spend most of my time back and forth between the garage and the basement anyway. I know economics don’t allow it, but if everyone stood in one spot for 2 weeks, most of the infected ones could be identified and treated. Hopefully someone can come up with a vaccine soon. Stay safe everyone!
  10. Always wash the body with soap and water also to remove any residue from the moulding process. I use comet and a toothbrush, I like the mild abrasiveness. Rinse well! edit: oops, pre-painted? I haven’t seen one of those.
  11. That is lookin’ real fine!
  12. Looks fabulous!
  13. That is one sweet looking little Corvette!
  14. What more can I say? It’s beautiful and about as perfect as humanly possible! Love your work!
  15. That is absolutely gorgeous...in a goulish demented way!? Seriously man, your talents are second to none!
  16. I am putting them on bare plastic. I usually use micro-set before and micro-sol after placing the decal. The micro-set would not flow out at all on the plastic so I used the micro-sol first and last. You say the newer decals are even thinner? Wow! I will try the soapy water trick if I ever have to repeat this scenario.
  17. Well I had better luck with the front speakers. They have a smoother mounting contour than the rears.
  18. Got to work on the interior. I think a tan interior would have looked better, but that would mean painting everything! I decided to install the rear seats even though they are not called for in this version. I snipped a corner off the supplied carpet and found that it doesn't stretch much so I don't think it would conform well to the rear wheel wells. So I wound up doing my own carpet. I managed to tear the two rear speaker decals (thankfully not too noticeable) and the two Porsche-Recaro seat decals which it will have to do without now.
  19. 2001 the box says...made in the Philippines. Item 24229-2500. I'm not concerned with getting replacements from them although I understand they are pretty good about it. I will just be super careful with the rest of them. I did manage to get the 5 itty-bitty guage decals in place. It's the larger ones that have given me trouble.
  20. Is it just me, or do they suck? I've wrecked four of the decals for my Porsche 911 GT3. They seem to be WAY thinner than any other decals I have done. That said, I don't usually do a lot of decals, but it seems if I don't get them bang on where they need to be, they will tear if I try to move them. Rant over.
  21. Lots of good fab work in this thread. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/147937-69-mustang-home-built-special-drift-car/
  22. The reason I don't want to paint is because of the extremely faint script. I am quite certain I would obliterate it, knowing how I paint! I have never "just polished" a model and thought this may be a candidate. I think the dry brushing is the best solution as this script is far to fine for my fat fingers and failing eyes to trim around! Sorry Bart...I should have started my own thread.
  23. Beautiful job on this Pete! Hope you don't mind, but I am going to copy your interior treatment, and maybe the mesh too.
  24. Rather than start a new thread, I will ask it here since it is foil related...maybe. Is it even possible to foil something this tiny? I am considering just polishing this model. Any other options than foil?
  25. I am a fan of quite a few cars from all makes up into the 70’s. They were all distinctive . In the 80’s, the field narrowed quite a bit and they somewhat lost their identity. It seemed that styling was less of a concern, except for a few flagship vehicles. 90’s and newer, only the odd domestic vehicle to me, has any “sex appeal” or distinctiveness. Daily drivers have all taken on a similar look. If you were to look at a bunch of new vehicles parked in a row with the emblems removed, it would be tough to say what brand they are from a distance of 30 ft. I guess if the wind tunnel has the final say they would all be identical.
