34 Ford Pickup
NOBLNG replied to meechum68's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great job on this Michael. It almost seems weird to see one NOT chopped…but that’s what they were.😎 And yes, a photo back drop would be a good idea. -
Dime don’t buy nothing these days.

The paint job looks great!👍

I don’t quite understand the original question? “Is the primer still on the plastic to protect it from a hot paint?” I gather that the kit is probably molded in red and that is just white primer…hence the thread title? Now you are just going to clear coat over the primer with no paint? The primer will still serve its intended purpose of promoting paint adhesion (and protection from a hotter paint) even though it has turned pink. Any dark color paint should hide the red. Like mentioned previously though, a coat of silver should hide it for lighter shades of paint.

It is likely to cause a horrendous accident if these truckers are asleep at the wheel.

It’s coming along nicely David. The chrome trim should really set off those colours.👍

The Revell ‘49 Merc is a very nice kit. It has different build options and everything has nice locating points and fits well. The side pipes were the only part I found that didn’t have positive mounting points.

Fabulous work on those door cards Jim. Did you use CA or solvent for attaching the pleats. I did a small experiment a while back and Tamiya thin really warped the thin evergreen backing template.

Nice work so far Jim!👍 I made some exhaust tips out of aluminum tube using a round chainsaw file. Is this kinda what you’re looking for? -
Looking for a specific Evergreen strip recommendation
NOBLNG replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here’s a link to the Evergreen site. https://evergreenscalemodels.com/collections/14-white-polystrene-strips For this Chevelle I used 0.015”x0.020” which would be #110 Evergreen. And a 1:1 ‘67 Olds. -

Everyday I try to accomplish something, but it’s difficult now that I am retired because there is always tomorrow.

Is the kit molded in white? I just recently read a thread on here about tires made from white styrene? where they were painted and then the paint wiped off of the raised letters. That might work?, especially if you are using acrylic paint.

Corvairs Through the Darien Gap

Awesome! Now I want a Corvair!🤪 -
This is shaping up nicely Bob. I’m not usually a fan of large rims and rubber band tires, but those do look good and fill out the wheel wells nicely. Stance looks killer!😎

Can you imagine having to stoop and scoop that when you take him for a walk? Got a hefty hefty cinch sack full….throw it over your shoulder and head home once he’s done his business.😬
