1972 Ford F100 replica build possible
NOBLNG replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The kit I have has 5 lug rims and the box art shows five lugs also. Kit #1230. Edit: It also has the upper and lower trim molded in, if that is what you’re looking for. It should be relatively easy to shorten the box and frame. -
Thoughts and ideas that hold forever true..........

I’ve wasted more masking tape and Bare Metal Foil by trying to be frugal than if I had just cut an obviously oversized piece in the first place. -
Anyway you want to build your model is all right by me, but It’s not a credo that has universal consensus.

Was the front bumper done with that stuff? If so, it looks pretty good!👍

Due to my exhaustive research and diligent planning 🙄…. the 1/32 interior fits with very little modification. I had to do some grinding and I re-oriented the dash slightly. Much easier than starting from scratch.🙂

Does this resemble anyone's work area?

I wish I had that many kits…but I still wouldn’t sit on them.😳 -
Breakfast consists of a cup of coffee and my meds.

There be squirrels Captain!

Looking good Bob!👍 Nice solution for the grill.😎

I like that color on it too Michael.👍 I am interested in how this goes together, since I have this kit in both the MPC and AMT versions which I gather are from the same molds.

Is it time to stop chasing squirrels and get back to the job at hand?

Can’t think why…

I’d rather have the Scout.😎 -

Thanks for all the compliments fellas. So I’m guessing this has a some potential after all? Glad I aborted my first attempt.😬 Today I did a little more shaping.🙂

Excellent attention to detail.👍 I’ll follow along. I’ve always wanted to build one…🙂 -
Day two builds are my favourite.

It looks more metallic grey than black to me….but I like it!😎 I goes well with the red interior.👍

And what a gem it was!😳 I pretty much had to hack the interior out in pieces and then grind the glass away. This time I shortened it at the peak of the rear fender bulge so that the body lines would line up. Kinda gives it a Cheetah look I think.😎 Then enlarged the wheel well back to its former shape. I narrowed the roof so the rear window edges lined up and filled the resulting gap behind the doors, and chopped it slightly to get the roof slope to line up more or less. I took about a 1/4” out of the cowl and spread the A pillars to mate up with the doors again. Then added a chunk of Evergreen to each door and shaped them a bit. They may need more, but I’m going to let it sit for a bit while I ponder my next move. Thanks for looking. As always…all comments welcome.😎

I’ve had a desire to build something based on this ever since I ran across the photo. I started with a second hand ‘vette I picked up at the flea market. I bought a new 1/32 Corvette too thinking that I might use the roof section. I know someone on here (Impalow I think) also was pursuing this idea. I started by narrowing it quite drastically,(too drastically😬) and then sectioned it by about 3/16”. Then I bobbed it by about 3/8” behind the rear window. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t really know what I’m doing….just cutting and hacking in the direction I want to go.😳 This is where I ran into trouble because the body lines no longer line up.🙄 Abort,Abort!🤬 So off to the Flea market to pick up another five buck gem.🤪
