  1. Nice improvements Jim.? Sometimes these older kits need to be beaten and tortured into submission. Being all about correctness the way you are Jim….is that an accurate self portrait??
  2. I got the disc brakes mounted to the wheels, and the wheels mounted to the axles. I re-made the door hinges and drilled them for side mirrors. Then made a couple of mirrors from sprue and .015” wire. I’ve been busy trying to tidy up the body and chassis in preparation for paint. Got rid of the screws that were temporarily holding things together and replaced them with permanent plugs. I pity anyone who gets one of my models and tries to disassemble it.?
  3. Thanks. It’s a piece of coat hanger sharpened to a chisel point, bent and chucked in my pin vise.
  4. They were sold out of the Tamiya photo etch blades so I picked these up at a local hobby shop. They measure .012” thick. They also sell a nice aluminum handle for them. But…me being a cheapskate, I just trimmed the tang a bit to fit into a regular exacto handle.?
  5. Beautiful work Dennis!? I recently picked up a couple of these AMT kits. I can’t wait to finish a couple of current projects so I can start one.
  6. Internet chat groups like Facebook are a terrific resource for nosey neighbours.
  7. Captured images are also called photographs, pics or even screen shots.
  8. Kudos to you Jim for showing these poor disadvantaged AMT kits what it is possible for them to become.? The fit of the kit roof is looking pretty good now. I think there is too much curvature of the rear deck…but not much you can do about that.? the resin roof would need the same treatment…filed to shape and new molding applied.? The front fender extensions definitely look like a worthwhile improvement!??
  9. Farthing is frowned upon in the movie theatre.
  10. Nice start on this one Tim. I like the color. I have one of these, but haven’t started it. Debating whether to look for a donor chassis or not? Carry on.?
  11. Welcome to my world. The conundrum about paint colours is one of my biggest hurdles, and delays my progress on every single build.?
  12. Nothing…and I mean nothing will stop me from getting this freaking model completed.
  13. Thanks Guys!? Here’s a couple of mockup pics.
  14. I’ve been trying to get the body work done. I moved the headlight mounting bar ahead of the grill, but decided to mount them to the radiator shell instead. mixed up a few tiny batches of Milliput to fill gouges and blend the new trim to look more like a stamped in molding than something that was glued or welded on. Also carved in some reliefs for window glass and made patterns for them from tape and applied them to some .010” clear sheet. I’ll trim them to size later. Sanded out the ejection pin marks on the headliner, even though it really can’t be seen.? And I’ve been filling and sanding and filling and sanding the tubbed fenders to get them looking presentable. Jeez…I thought they looked good until I saw this photo.? Oh well, time for some more sanding and primer.?
  15. Yes, that color with the black stripes looks great!?
  16. Itself is something dogs never think about.
  17. I’m OK with just bar soap or body wash for everything…haven’t bought shampoo for a while now…do you think Pledge might add too much shine??
  18. Everywhere and I mean everywhere, I looked for that darned part.
  19. Planes don’t turn my crank.?
  20. I like it a lot!??
  21. The only issue I can see with that is it can’t be moved easily after paint. I like to put mine directly into the dehydrator both to dry quicker and to protect it from dust. Your fixture is very similar to the ones I made. The prongs can be bent to suit the body as required. The holes make it easier to hang onto.
