I have an AMT kit that has the bumper, grill, emblem/signal bar and hood trim as four separate pieces. The grill itself is not chrome. I also have the Revell convertible kit that has the hood trim separate. The AMT chrome is not shiny, looks more like aluminum.? -

The dent and scratches should have been fixed before painting. What kind of paint is it? Did you use a primer? Primer usually reveals that sort of stuff along with any faint mold lines that need to be addressed. You could possibly use filler putty to do a spot repair and repaint just the hood. I haven’t done a spot repair after paint myself, so I might just strip the entire thing. Someone else may have more experience with repairs.

There you go Steve! Well put without a hint of condemnation.? I totally agree with the positive attributes of an airbrush…but if someone decides for whatever reason that they don’t want one, that’s perfectly okay too. There is always brush painting as a last resort.?

How Important is Box Art
NOBLNG replied to Biggu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice box art might entice me to buy a kit.? But bad box art won’t dissuade me from buying a kit.? -

No one is arguing that spray cans are superior to an airbrush. It’s the attitude that people who don’t build using your techniques or build to your standards are lazy or juvenile. Why should someone have excuse their use of a spray can? This is a hobby, not a job.

Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
NOBLNG replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As a test I put a Polar Lights ‘64 GTO body in my dehydrator and cranked it up to the 160 degree maximum. It didn’t harm it, so I put a warped Monogram 1930 Packard boat tail speedster in it. I had the body fastened to a board with an opposite twist and again cranked it up to the max. It did take the twist out eventually and no damage. I didn’t measure the actual temperature so I don’t know how hot it really got. Disclaimer: All styrene is not the same so try it at your own risk.? I normally run it between 95 and 115 for drying paint and glue joints. -
Trooper was here for a good time…not a long time.

That’s a polite way of putting it.?

I like these on my F250. I haven’t off-roaded with them, but I think they would do pretty well. They perform well on ice and snow. They do tend to pick up stones if you do a lot of gravel.
