  1. That looks like it’s going to be one comfy interior. Nice work.?
  2. That looks great Jim.? I wonder why they wouldn’t make it to fit in the first place? Could it be possible that all AMT ‘57 T-Birds are not created equal…or more likely a little body warpage after packaging?
  3. Fascinating. I’ve never heard of marbled bricks before. I did buy a few dozen regular ones that I use to make silicone molds in.
  4. Days, (as in daylight hours) are now getting shorter.
  5. Mind your P’s and queues.
  6. I just glued the dash in place and went to put the steering column in place when I realized it hangs WAAY too low.? A vehicle like this with such a cramped interior really needs a tilt column.? I hate doing mods like this after paint. Lesson learned…maybe.? Anyhow…I managed to file the slot up higher and clip the mount shorter.? I shortened the column a tad too. I also shortened the shifter a bit and switched the piston for a ball. I did manage stay up past my bedtime and get some paint on the body last night. It’s Tamiya LP-20 light gunmetal.
  7. She cleans up pretty good David.? And the car is looking great!?
  8. Great work Jeff. That engine is a killer, and I like the interior…especially the shifters.??
  9. I fitted my central vacuums upholstery brush with a perforated screen so I don’t suck up any parts. I don’t want to have to go digging through the vac bag…again.?
  10. Wow, those are some funky looking headers.?
  11. Very nice progress John, and it’s looking good. Yeah the roof fit on these leaves a lot to be desired. I have completed one and have one partially done. The second one I installed pins to keep things aligned while the glue dried. Looking forward to what you do with it.??
  12. Got some color on the interior. Now I have to paint the outside of the tunnel and floorboard before I can assemble it. I was hoping to get some color on the body too…but every time I look at it I find more flaws.?
  13. Thank You all fellas!?
  14. Lawn Man is the outfit we hired to kill our weeds and apply fertilizer.
  15. Simple tip to keep the cutoff from winding up in the carpet. Attach a piece of tape before cutting. Then fold up the tape with the scrap piece inside and toss it in the trash.
  16. Forever young is how I feel when working on a model, except when my hands begin to tremble….I hope it’s just the coffee.?
  17. Nice improvements Jim.? Sometimes these older kits need to be beaten and tortured into submission. Being all about correctness the way you are Jim….is that an accurate self portrait??
  18. I got the disc brakes mounted to the wheels, and the wheels mounted to the axles. I re-made the door hinges and drilled them for side mirrors. Then made a couple of mirrors from sprue and .015” wire. I’ve been busy trying to tidy up the body and chassis in preparation for paint. Got rid of the screws that were temporarily holding things together and replaced them with permanent plugs. I pity anyone who gets one of my models and tries to disassemble it.?
  19. Thanks. It’s a piece of coat hanger sharpened to a chisel point, bent and chucked in my pin vise.
  20. They were sold out of the Tamiya photo etch blades so I picked these up at a local hobby shop. They measure .012” thick. They also sell a nice aluminum handle for them. But…me being a cheapskate, I just trimmed the tang a bit to fit into a regular exacto handle.?
  21. Beautiful work Dennis!? I recently picked up a couple of these AMT kits. I can’t wait to finish a couple of current projects so I can start one.
  22. Internet chat groups like Facebook are a terrific resource for nosey neighbours.
  23. Captured images are also called photographs, pics or even screen shots.
