  1. My thought is Hobby Lobby is the Walmart of Hobby stores. They were the cheapest but their prices have skyrocketed the past few months. They know Micheals isn't going to carry them and the only other threat to them in my area is A.C.Moore. Their prices also jumped. Most new kits in both stores are over $30.00. A.C. Moore kits are all around $37.00 now. Once they stop carrying them Hobby Lobby can charge what they want. I think the best bet is Ebay or swap meets. I'm going to my first swap meet next month.
  2. I love this look. Nice.
  3. Just stunning. Nice build.
  4. To be able to foil like you one day.?
  5. Wow. That's beautiful. I've always had this connection to the Titanic. It really affects me. Don't know why. My Great Aunt had a copy of the Saturday Globe which was a Utica NY newspaper dated April 27th, 1912. When she passed away I found it and it's framed and on the wall. In looking it over. I realize that the photos of people that are rectangle were deceased and ones in the oval shape were survivors.
  6. Amazing. That's all I can think of to say.
  7. I went with off white and am going to try silver inserts. Though my attempts at trying to do two tone seats have always flopped. Can't figure out how to stop the paint from bleeding into the other color. I've tried taping. Maybe there liquid mask I've read here in the forum? That's why most of my interiors end up plain. When all else fails. Out comes the black paint. LOL. But I though putting an off white top would pull it together.
  8. It's going to be awesome.
  9. Thank you Joe. OK. I've got my homework cut out for me. Of course my attempt at trying to fix/replace A pillars on the 71 Thunderbird I did was a flop. LOL. I've never done this sort of thing before but the kit cost next to nothing. So It's a good test subject. Of all the kit's I've done since I joined this forum. Most have been partially built kits or kits that have this sort of thing done to them. So I don't really mind experimenting on them. You might be right Vince. The tops were in the other's box. I'm thinking because the 64's roof wasn't cut straight. They figured it was too much for them to do. Funny. I bought 7 kits from them and they were all started. Nothing completed. So either way. I still have some work to do, learn.
  10. Do you think you could coat them with the Pledge polish or something similar.
  11. Any ideas as to what to do with these two? Try and put the tops back on or find boot covers for the both. They do make nice convertibles. And does anyone know what that white piece in the lower right corner belong to? Thanks.
  12. She is a beauty. I love seeing these types at the car shows. I just walk past the 55 and 57 Chevys. I like looking at cars you hardly see anymore.
  13. Nice. Now that I see it has a vending machine and dolly. I'll have to buy one.
  14. Picked up these today. They are complete and some are partially started. The 2 Chevys have had the roofs removed. Have to figure out how to reattach them or find boot covers and figure out sun visors. At least they left some plastic along the top of the windshields frame. The truck is started and the Ford has had it's doors glued shut. The hinges are broken off so I guess they will have to stay that way. The stock cars will be up for grabs as I'm not interested in them. I had to buy them all and the whole lot was a super duper deal. The cool little gas station has lights that blink on top. I think it might be a hot wheels toy as you can launch a car from the showroom floor. Heck 5 cents. Can't go wrong. Use it to display some matchbox cars.
  15. Just purchased this 2 weeks ago. I had an 05 Element I bought new. But the maintenance on that car as astronomical. So I sold it and purchased this 09 Venza. 57,000 miles and all wheel drive. My Element hardly ever topped 20 miles per gallon. This is averaging 24 -26 mpg. Really liking it so far.
  16. I think it’s worth what I paid. The matchbox car is worth a bit. And it’s in perfect condition. But I couldn’t find the box. The built cars I bought mainly for the whitewall tires. Lol.
  17. Some of the kits were started. The Rolls was not. All the instructions and decals are with the kits except for the Tiger Shark. But that one has something that looks like you would put the model on it and it would rotate. The Pierce Arrow kit has all the paper work advertising the company's models. Not sure what to do with the others. I'd like to get at least the stock hood, front grill and rear pieces to the Plymouth. I actually had a dealer's promo when I was a kid that had the working torsion bars in it. But my brothers took care of that along with the rest. The Lincolns cools it has sun roofs that lift up, Missing one of course and the hood. The t-birds are all there except for the 58 convertible which is missing it's windshield frame. And another cobra to get rid of. The best find is the 1957 Chevy Impala Matchbox car. It's in perfect shape. This estate sale was like a time cell opened up. These people kept everything they ever owned.
  18. Hey Mike. Might be the glue. Is it kid safe? That could be the reason why.
  19. What is MCG and PE set? This is one of those repainted ProShop kits. I already have one but when I saw this at an estate sale. I had to save it. And it did literally fall apart as I walled with it. LOL. I was lucky with the glue but still wonder what they used. Would Testors kid glue do that?
  20. Thank you. I appreciate the input. I just placed it in a clear display box with a decorated display behind it. He has a pellet furnace so I wanted to make sure it didn't get covered in dust.
  21. Really nice colors.
  22. 1957 Chevy Hardtop. I painted it and I'm now stumped as to what colors the interior should be. I'm thinking white with silver. The Dukes of Hazard Charger is almost ready to come out of the purple power. Not sure if I'm going to stick with the car's theme or go elsewhere with it. And a 1960 Corvette. It's black so I think I'm going to leave it at that. Besides the Edsel I posted the other day.
  23. Thank you. He will be surprised when he sees it. The younger guys where he works keep bugging him to put a Borla Exhaust on it. Make it louder. His reply is "Why would I want to draw attention to myself?" That's my brother. LOL
