Miss Deal chassis on Johan 63 plymouth body.
wrenchr replied to wrenchr's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Update. working nights allows me time to burn the midnight oil on Sunday nights guilt free as my Wife is sleeping for the night. I had a lindberg Belvidere body in the ole purple pond that I decided to go with. Made lots of progress, still needs some massaging but I'm happy with the result's thus far. Early on in the night the body broke apart. I think that made it easier going back together. ? -

Miss Deal chassis on Johan 63 plymouth body.

I thought about this, it will be my last option if the roof graft does not go well. -

Love those Dodges, very nice progress. -
I picked up this old Johan 63 Plymouth convertible a few years ago at a swap meet, for some reason someone grafted different front and rear fenders on the pass side and did a pretty poor job at doing so. I cleaned up that and have been also wanting to use a Revell miss deal Studebaker chassis for a project. Since the body was pretty much toast I will see if I can use it. I started moving the rear wheel openings forward and removed all the trim, the rear fenders are just roughed in right now. For the roof I might use a lindberg color me gone since I have a good stock pile of those, I know not accurate but should look cool. Oh the windshield frame on the johan body was also toast. I think it could be a cool funky homemade style drag car. Also my goal is to not buy anything else for this, the only new kit will be the miss deal kit I already had. The lindberg kit is parts as well I will use.

That is really looking good. Love the subtle weathering. The last one I built even with the lowered kit suspension still sits to high. I see another build. I have a few of the 70 Camaro's. -

The old trucks are so much cooler, this is very neat. will be checking back often. -
Still not worked on the front suspension. Will tackle that here soon. I added a black wash on the body and I think it looks a lot more distressed now. Need to had some grime but will wait to it is closer to finished. This is going to be for a diorama I have been working on here and there. I did another 56 ford earlier in the year. The hood is still a work in progress. need to come up with some kind of marking.

Thanks guys!! I do have some updates just need to take some pics. Used the roll cage from the AMT torino kit. It worked like it was meant for it.

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
wrenchr replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The way the market is now, you never know if the release will be short lived. The kits that come out that I want I grab when they are available. I would rather them sit in my model dungeon than become collectors items. A lot of revells kits have done that.- 599 replies

Looks amazing!! Mine just delivered today. -
Been adding to my Johan kits as I come across them. Some on ebay for decent deals but those are far and few between now. I remember being able to buy them when I was kid. My Dad bought me the 60 Desoto adventurer. Finally found that one at a swap for $50.00 a few years ago. I will be building that very soon. No mods just the way it comes. Well I will use some AMT parts pack tires. My Dad paid $5.00 for the one when I was a kid.
