  1. Yes, I am. And yes, it is. The '65 Nova is far, far from a great kit.
  2. Best build of this kit that I've seen! Your attention to the details really makes it come to life! Nice work on this one Tommy!
  3. I have to retract this statement as I was thinking that baking powder and baking soda were the same substance. Baking soda will be fine. No idea on baking powder.
  4. I wasn't aware that they are different. But, you're right. Baking soda requires an acid and liquid to activate. Baking powder only requires a liquid to activate. That's probably why I get by with using the soda for flocking. I would be leery about using the powder for flocking since it only needs moisture to activate. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused on the subject.
  5. Not if it's sealed with primer and paint afterwards. I have models twelve to fifteen years old that were flocked with baking soda. They're still fine. If nothing has happened by now, I don't think anything is going to.
  6. Agree completely. It still baffles me as to how they did them so well sixty years ago. Something else that is odd is it's counterpart, the '60 Chevy Apache, had the bed floor molded to the cab with the bed a separate piece. The body on it has several issues.
  7. I've built two of the '60 F-100s and shape wise, they're right on the money IMO. The only fault I saw and it's pretty minor, is the tailgate is recessed just a little too much. I didn’t fix it on either one I built. It's that minor. I did separate the grille from the bumper and added a splash guard. One thing that impressed me with the grille was the tiny screws molded in on the headlight surrounds. Like the other kits, it needs separate clear lenses for the headlights. The only fault with the interior is, of course, the single piece tub. But, the seat and dash are very accurate. The door panels are a bit weak. But, look the part pretty well. If Round2 were doing it like the Nova wagon, all it needs is a seperate bumper and headlight lenses. Oh, and separate the bed from the cab.
  8. Yep. That too. Maybe it will eventually be made. I know we can one from the '69 Nova. But, who wants to buy a kit for the exhaust?
  9. Which Tamiya clear do you use? I have very little experience with anything outside of the sprays.
  10. My response was based on actual, repeated experience and a photo. Not "analytical thinking".
  11. Do you use the TS line over the enamel Trevor? I have a few cans of enamel with plans of using two or three of them. Plus, I have an old project that has enamel with no clear. It's over twenty years old. So, there's no way to do a similar test.
  12. I've used baking soda as flocking several times. I always preferred it over flocking and even embossing powder. To me, it has a much better in scale appearance. Flocking is way out of scale unless you want it to look like shag carpet. Embossing powder is better than flocking. But, still a bit out of scale judging photos I've seen. I did use super fine embossing powder on a recent build and it has the closest look of baking soda. But, it still had a little more buildup than baking soda and I still had to paint it. This interior is done with baking soda. If it didn’t work, there's no way I would have used it on this model. Just because some don't know how to do something doesn't mean no one knows how to do it.
  13. Everyone, including myself, thought for sure there would be a dually version later. But, it never happened. Maybe the 350 didn’t do as well as hoped.
  14. Years ago, I had the parts gathered to build an SS with the 396 from the convertible and an MPC hood. But, never went any farther. I would have rather seen this kit come with the Kelsey Hayes Magnums instead of the "me too" steel wheels and COPO hubcaps. That would have gotten me to open up the wallet. As-is, I think I'll just build the one I have the parts gathered for if I ever decide to build one.
  15. I can't believe what the Meng F-350s are commanding on ebay! They already rival the old annuals! I have one on my watch list that's $162.50 with 9 hrs left. I agree with Keyser in that we're bound to see a four door version. Then there's all of the different packages and two different tops. So, if Round2 plays this one right, it can be a great seller IMO.
  16. True. But, at the same time, it proves that builders are still willing to pay a premium for an old kit with a one piece chassis vs a new kit with a very similar body style that's a full detail. Of course, it doesn't help that the new kit has the proportions of a cheap gas station diecast either. Luckily, it doesn't look like the Coronet is going to have that issue.
  17. Time will tell. But, I kinda doubt it. The only hope I had for the Moebius '65 and '66 F-100s was that they would make the prices of the AMT '61-'63 F-100s go down. If anything, the prices of the AMT F-100s went even higher.
  18. Maybe if this kit does well, we'll see more newer model kits down road. Like a newer full size pickup. Heck, I'd like to see a kit of the new Maverick.
  19. This is the coolest version of this kit that I've seen! Makes me want to blow mine apart and give it a makeover!
  20. But, this isn't new tooling. It's a revised tooling. Big difference. I'm sure you'll buy them to sell to your customers. Are you going to voice your opinion when one of your customers plunks one down on your counter? Or will you say nothing and take their money?
  21. I don't know Steve. Consider the alternative.
  22. Not to mention, if you have a slip with a Molotow pen, you have mess! I've seen some pretty rough looking trim done with a Molotow pen. I've seen some that look decent. But, I've never seen a sharp, crisp line with it. It's just not gonna happen with a pen.
  23. True. But, maybe folks should reserve judgement until they've actually seen what it is. From what has been described, it kinda sounds like this may be the style of chassis the Coronet will be getting. Only sans the screws and engine/transmission plate. Is it great? Of course not! Is it horrible? I don't think so. But, I can't see it very well once it's on the shelf.
