  1. This is my sentiments with Moebius. Except, they produce kits that only resemble the subject. It doesn't matter how many details a kit has if the body, grille and sometimes the chassis' are inaccurate. But, people will still lap them up like ice cream in July and talk about the colored instructions and what great kits they are. ? At least the body on this kit appears to be accurate and they have made improvements over the original. As many times as the '68 Coronet subject has came up over the years, I doubt you would find many (if any) that would say they would rather not have one at all. Maybe, just maybe, they have plans for a better chassis later on down the line.
  2. Then Round2 needs to find the tooling for it and put it in this kit. I'm guessing they went back to the bucket seats for the "Fall Guy" version? One more suggestion for Round2 regarding this kit is please fill in the cut lines on the roof at least. Extra points for the hood also.
  3. Regarding the engine vs no engine, I don't think there's a more perfect example of what can be done with even the most simplistic kit ( 18 pieces ) than this model by Tony "Bogger44". When a model looks like this, I don't care if it has an engine!
  4. Thanx! It's BMF.
  5. I only use BMF. There's nothing else that I'm aware of that will withstand repeated handling. Nine times out of ten, if foil doesn’t stick, it's because the surface is too rough. When you trim foil, remember that you only need to drag the blade along. No pressure! It takes very little to trim foil away as it is so thin. You only want to cut through the foil. Not the paint.
  6. Yes, the MPC square body has floorpan detail on each side of the frame. It also has the gas tank on the wrong side. In MPC's defense, it was on the right side for the earlier Chevies.
  7. I hope one of those versions is a fleetside bed. Round2 could do several versions with this kit. Longbed, 2wd, 3/4 ton etc.
  8. The '81 and '82 Chevy pickups actually should have the turn signals in the bumpers. It was the '83-'87s that had grille mounted turn signals. As far as the grille being a mess in the recent issues, besides the chrome headlights, they look pretty accurate to me. The '84 GMC shouldn't have the bumper mounted turn signals.
  9. I'll be buying one for sure! Hopefully, Round2 will add an engine and detailed suspension to it later. I'll still be happy even if they don't. It'll be cool to be able to build a model of a modern subject. Maybe if this first version does well, it'll open the door for more newer kits.
  10. I could forgive/fix that if they would stick a bench seat in it instead of the horrible bucket seats it comes with.
  11. The MPC kits did have a lower engine/transmission insert. At least the '68 Impala and Chevy pickup did. I have both. On the Impala, the exhaust and lower rearend are a separate piece. The promo and the kit used the same chassis. The chassis actually looks decent with some detail painting.
  12. Thanx! Yes, it's BMF.
  13. Thanx! I had photos of the interior in Photobucket. But, I would say they're gone by now.
  14. I don't see what the big deal is. The car literally doesn't have a single usable panel on it anywhere. A couple hundred bullet holes sure didn't hurt it. Have to give KTW credit for putting his initials in the door though.
  15. Yeah, I ran into that issue with my '69 GTX project. Even with wider tires in the rear, I still had to make the rearend wider. That was a first for me.
  16. It's actually very simple Emre. It's the angle of the blade. Instead of holding it at a 90 degree angle to the trim, I hold it at a 45-30 degree angle.
  17. I just hope if they do add emblems to the fenders, that they'll be the correct half ton emblems instead of the three quarter ton emblems. I would be happy if they just added them to the decal sheet. Best scenario IMO. Personally, I'd rather see the fleetside bed from the GMC with Chevy script on the decals for the tailgate. Sans the toolbox lines also. Anyone know if there was an '81 that had the grille with only two headlights? I was thinking the Sod Buster did. But, apparently not.
  18. Today, I pulled this one off the shelf, removed the Pegasus TT2'S and stuck the stock wheels and tires on it to take a photo for a different thread. While I had it out, I took a few others and thought I would post them. Some of you may remember when I posted it originally with the custom wheels. For those that don't remember it or haven't seen it before, it's an original MPC promo that I restored a few years ago. The interior got the bucket seats cut loose, holes in the floor patched, floorpan was then flocked with baking soda, painted to match and the bucket seats got brackets to get them up off of the floor. It was painted with Model Masters Artesian Turquoise with Bright Aqua accents. On the body, I repaired a hole in the right front wheel opening along with what seemed like hundreds of nicks and scratches. Once it was ready for paint, I covered it with the same Model Masters Artesian Turquoise and covered that with Testors Clear. The grille was opened and it along with the rear bumper and wheel covers were sent to LittleMotorKarCo for new chrome. The tires are original and just got the tread sanded. Something I really like about these old promos is that you can do a simple wheel swap in a matter of minutes and totally change the look of it. Thanx for checking it out!
  19. I'm thinking/hoping/crossing fingers that at some point Round2 will bless us with a '68 Impala SS based on their '67. Especially since they did the four door. I would gladly send them mine to reverse engineer one.
  20. Thanx David! I'm sure it's somewhat brighter than it would have been over just the gray primer. I actually shot all three coats in the same session. That may have made a difference.
  21. I've always said it and always will, "I'd rather have a curbside kit with an accurate body than a full detail kit with a butchered body." The Moebius '65 Nova immediately comes to mind. Besides, how many people display their models with the hood open outside of a model show? Or put them on their roof to show the chassis?
  22. My '82 didn't have the recess. I did scribe in a gas door. Something I've never understood on the MPC Chevy pickups and the GMC's is the notched cab corners. Not many fill those in either. If the '81 is like the '82, plan on doing some shimming under the back of the cab and bed. This is how mine looked mocked up out of the box. After shimming.
  23. Looks like they have the older style rear fenders as I can see a depression for a round gas cap. So, they could very well be planning on the '73-'79 versions.
  24. No kidding. "Why didn't it come with a slant six and hubcaps?" With the new Bronco coming, I wonder what the chances are of a new Mustang or even better, a Raptor.
  25. Nice save Mike! I have a '61 Comet that could benefit from the same treatment. AMT did colored plastic as far back as '61. Did your Meteor have an engine? I have a '62 Fairlane molded in green that has an engine. Pretty sure it's a promo. But, I've always thought promos came without an engine.
