  1. I put a thick coat of windshield glue over them. You can also use a drill bit the size of the headlights and drill into them creating a bucket. Then, glue clear lenses in. This one has the glue method. This one has the drilled out and replaced method.
  2. Thanx Colin! I now have all of the engine bay details done! I also have the interior done! I ended up knocking the other sun visor off. I'll install them last as I'll have to flop it over to do the exhaust. The box of parts is getting pretty empty now! I'll try to take better photos once it's finished.
  3. John, when you figure out what wheels and tires you want, send me a PM and I'll do a trade with you. Not a Foose '56. But, it may give you an idea.
  4. Thanx David! The only real issue was the breather and that was an easy fix. Hopefully, there won't be any more.
  5. I like the dryer sheet method best. It looks just like the hood insulation on a full scale to me. I could still make it work if I were willing to repaint. But, I'm OK with it as is. Especially since the underside of the hood has no other detail anyway. I always make sure to allow room for paint on hoods and trunks. I use strips of .010 to check for clearance. If I can place a strip around the perimeter, it's good. Turns out, my rear seat actually does fit well. So well, that it doesn't need glue. Once the bucket seats were out of the way, I had room to finesse it in much better. I have all of the engine details finished. All I like is adding the wipers and everything under the hood will be done. I'm going to hit the wipers with some satin or flat clear before I install them. Then I'll get the exhaust done, finish the interior, bumpers, valances and a few other little details and it'll be done!
  6. It's definitely an FE engine. I've seen it and those headers before. But, I can't recall the kit it came in.
  7. I made a full top for a '67 Jeepster a few years ago. I used .020 and laminated it. On your project, I would make a template of the top of the bed with .040. Think bed cover. Then glue the sides on top of it, the front and rear. Once you have the shape you want, add another layer to fine tune the shape. Then cut out the openings and lastly cut away the bottom.
  8. That would possibly work. But, if it didn’t, it would be a pain to get back off. I tried David's idea and it would have worked. Except when I did the paint method, the area was bigger than my insulation and a different shade of black. No way I want to risk masking and spraying the underside of the hood. That was the whole point of making it a separate piece. So, I'm gonna leave it as is. I'll file that idea away for future use.
  9. Yeah. I glued it with Elmer's glue. It worked great. It was just too thick.
  10. That's a great idea David! I'll give a try and see how it goes. I think that might even improve the look of it. Thanx for the idea! Right now, I'm just trying to address each issue one at a time. I'll keep picking away at it. I'll have to get it done at some point. It sure is trying my patience though.
  11. Thanx for the feedback guys! I finally have the body glued to the chassis permanent. I had a little bit of drama with it. But, not too bad. But, from that point on, it's been one step forward and two steps back! First thing was I immediately saw that the breather was too high. So, I had to remove it. Luckily, no damage. I grabbed the breather from the '67 Impala and got the room I needed. Or so I thought. I had made a piece of hood insulation from a piece of .010 styrene and a dryer sheet that looked the part pretty well. Well, it was just a touch too thick and wouldn't allow the hood to fit flush. So, I had to rip it back off. To cover the damage, I taped the hood off, dipped a large paint brush in flat black paint and dabbed it on. It gave it some texture. But, it's still not like the dryer sheet piece that I had. But, it'll have to do. The rear seat isn't fitting like it should. I may have to modify it and repaint. I took the front buckets back out for room to install the dash. I knocked one of the visors off in that process. I haven't checked to see how it fits. Fingers crossed.
  12. I used to have the same belief......until it happened to me. It happened on this model. It's the Lindberg kit molded in glossy yellow. Didn't happen when I primered. Didn't happen when I painted it. Didn't happen when I did the first coat of clear. It happened when I shot the second coat of clear! The yellow came through turning the blue a greenish color. Luckily, I had only done the bed and grille. I let them dry, sanded lightly, shot a coat of color and a coat of clear. Primer and all paint are Tamiya. So, the dyes do leach out. Even with paint formulated for styrene.
  13. I found them on ebay. Look up prostreethobbies. I bought a different set a while back and they're really nice! The rotors even have the vent detail! I plan on buying more just to have them around.
  14. My dad used to say, "You can read all the books there are about driving a nail with a hammer. But, until you do it, you don't know anything about it." Skills come from experience. Not a book or a YouTube video.
  15. I switched to Tamiya. It lays down smoother than Testors.
  16. I use the original Krazy Glue. No screw on cap. The cap has a pin that inserts into the nozzle. Problem solved.
  17. The hood/cowl on this Duster was done with Model Masters Go Green, Satin Black and Tamiya tape. The pinstripes and strobe stripe are paint. There's no better masking tape out there IMO.
  18. Sounds like you sprayed on too much paint and you definitely left the tape on for too long. It's not the fault of the tape.
  19. I could usually find them on ebay. But, it's been a while since I've seen a set. I hope they haven't stopped producing them. I'm down to my last set.
  20. It's a Samsung Galaxy 6.
  21. It isn't working very well on my tablet. It's back like it was before the last upgrade. When I go into a topic, I can't go back. I have to tap the address bar and re enter the web address. I also sometimes have to tap on the topic a couple or three times to pull it up.
  22. I don't care about my post count. Much less someone else's. The rocket ship inside the avatars is kind of an annoyance. But, I'll get used to it. Are we ever going to get the ability to edit titles in threads after three days?
  23. Thanx Tony! Back then, Monogram was my favorite. I probably built every one they ever made. The flip front '66 Chevelle was a favorite also. As my luck would be, about a month after I built this, Revell reissued the Street Machine version. But, I never did get around to buying it. Thanx to everyone for all of the great comments! I appreciate it!
