  1. I'd stick a Viper V-10 in it with these wheels. I'd also graft the center of the hood/scoops from an '09 Challenger into the hood.
  2. Tamiya Dull Red looks very close to GM Garnet Red. It looks a little darker in this light.
  3. Yeah, I would have appreciated at least a message letting me know. But..... For those that may not have seen it Under Glass, here's a photo of it.
  4. That's a nice restoration Rich! I always have a greater appreciation for a nice model that's been brought back from a heap. The Tamiya Maroon is one of my favorite colors. It looks perfect on that model! Nice work!
  5. That is a killer Caddy Oliver! I really like the stance and wheels! The paint and engine really takes it over the top! Nice work!
  6. Yep, that's definitely mine! I had no idea! I was thinking a photo of the finished model. Didn't think about it being the progress photos. I'm flattered and surprised. Thanx for the photo Bob!
  7. I used the Monogram Chevelle's back end and the Revell El Camino's front end on this one. The tail panel and bumper have to be narrowed slightly.
  8. Thanx Rich! But, are you sure it's mine? I didn't submit any photos and I haven't took it to any shows. So, I'm kinda wondering how it would be in the magazine.
  9. Yeah, me two. We already knew about the wagon. The Californian would have to be free for me to take one. I have a feeling that one will be Ollies fodder soon. Why couldn't they have fixed the '72 Gran Prix or just added the stock parts?
  10. It yours to do whatever you want with. There's thousands of them already languishing in boxes in people's stash. Enjoy it now or save it for the landfill. No one past us are going to care about them anyway.
  11. I use Tamiya Gray Putty.
  12. Nice looking little roadster Matt! Great color combo! I think those wheels look better without the knock-offs.
  13. Thanx David! Yeah, he was into models for quite a while. Don't know if he still is or not. He's now in his mid thirties, has a family and small farm. So, I don't know if he has the time any longer.
  14. Thanx Lee! It makes a huge difference in the looks IMO. I did a bit of re-engineering on this kit. I made the front valence and grille separate. That made painting the grille simple and allowed me to glue the rear valence in before paint. Anyone who's built this kit knows how tricky it can be to install the rear valence cleanly during final assembly.
  15. Thanx guys! I did a test run with the black foil and it's going to work great! It makes a huge difference in the appearance of the trim as well as the model. I'll post a photo once I get it all applied.
  16. That's a cool looking Mercury Tony! Your extra work really paid off on this one! Well done!
  17. That is one slick black paint job Craig! Nice work!
  18. There's a story behind this old model. Thirty five plus years ago, I bought and built the Street Machine version of this kit. I built it straight out of the box just like the boxart. I even used the flame decals. But, I hated the mismatched wheels it came with and the fog lights mounted to the front bumper. So, I gave it makeover painting the red interior black and the body and bumpers red. The mismatched wheels got replaced with the Centerlines from a Monogram '70 Chevelle that I had bought later. I loved the way it looked with the painted bumpers (sans fog lights) and new wheels! One weekend, my brother and family was down for a visit and I was showing him and my nephew my models. My nephew was still a little guy. But, he went nuts over that 'Cuda! It was all he talked about with me the entire weekend. So, I decided to give it to him since he liked it so much. My thought was that I would just buy another one and build a twin to it. But, I couldn't find one anywhere! Just the stock version. Now, I kinda regretted giving it away. Fast forward to discovering ebay and I thought, "now I get my old street machine 'Cuda back!" That was, until I saw the price it was going for! No way I was gonna pay double for it! Which now is much less than a new kit. Later, I came across the stock version molded in Orange for $5 plus $5 shipping. That'll do. Since I couldn't build a twin, I decided to change the color and go with Model Masters Go Mango topped with Tamiya TS-13. I still wanted the look of the original and used the same wheel and tire setup. I decided against painting the bumpers body color and used Plasti Kote Aluminum on them. While it's not a twin to the original, it has the same vibe and feel to it. Although it is a dated look. But, it brings back a good memory of how my nephew reacted when I gave the original to him. Thanx for checking it out!
  19. Thanx David! I got the paint polished. Still have to do a final polish. The foil work is done. The windshield frame was quite tricky to do. I kinda wish that I had got rid of the wheelwell trim. Just a little too much chrome for my liking. But, it is what it is now. I may stick the steel wheels and hubcaps back on to see what it looks like. I'll be glad when I can finally glue the body to the frame so that it doesn't look like a car with the engine and transmission missing! Something hanging me up at the moment is figuring out how to do the beltline chrome strip. It's not solid chrome on the full scale. The center rub strip is typically body color or black. I see no way of successfully painting it. Not with my shaky hand anyway. I'm thinking about trying to cut a piece of foil the width I need for the center, painting it and then apply it. Then touch up if necessary. I think that's my only hope. I have some black foil that I can do a test run with.
  20. I stick mine in a Carney display case that mounts to the wall in my garage. They will hold twenty one models.
  21. Thanx Dave! I want to do another phantom pickup sometime.
  22. I'd rather have this Nova.
  23. My '61 built from a bad resin body. I used a Monogram '66 Mustang chassis/drivetrain and underhood core.
  24. This is a super nice looking Mercedes Chang! I really like the colors you chose for it! Especially the interior color. Great work on this one!
