Chrysler to be sold in pieces?
gasman replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
more bad news for Chrysler. say goodbye to the Durango/Aspen. The plant which produces them is closing on December 31st 2008. and there is no plan on moving production to any other plant. plus the Sebring is getting ripped to shreds by the automotive media. even being called the worst car in the world by one well known journalist/TV show personality. Chrysler can't survive as a stand alone car maker anymore. Its on life support and the only way it can survive is if they get some outside help. GM has already said they will dissolve Chrysler if they get a deal. and keep just Jeep and the Minivan. The Renault/Nissan deal would be the best for Chrysler. It would not only allow them to get some much needed new product into the marketplace. They could also do a better job of exporting the product they already have. Dodge and Nissan are already working together on the new small Dodge (The Hornet), and the new Dodge Ram based Nissan Titan. my brother has an 08 Avenger. its not bad. the motor has ok power. but its got way too much hard plastic for my taste. -
Chrysler to be sold in pieces?

The Nissan/Renault deal would be best for Chrysler. it would allow some brand sharing. If this happens I just hope they bring the Renault Mugane over here and sell it in Dodge showrooms. thats exactly what they need right now. -
it can, but IIRC it doesn't have the stock tires, just the stock wheels

I'm not really into the vintage drag racing stuff but i'm all for a new kit of a current funny car, here's the real deal.
-
nice too see all those Dukes of Hazzard issues. hopefully the people at Auto World will correct the Charger with the correct rear window.
-
not only are we missing the ZR1. we are also missing the 57 Olds or Buick that was "rumored" to be announced a few weeks back The show closed for the day a little less then 2 hours ago. so we should be hearing some more info from the show soon

Not only are they betting the farms on reissues, there betting them on freakin show rods. AMT's already proven in the past that show rods are not good sellers. and what do they do, they go back to them. then Revell seems to be doing the same. sounds like Revell is giving us a 5 window 32 Ford which is a good thing.

cool, I expected AMT too release a snap kit of there Challenger promo. whats the deal with the funny car next to the Challenger promo's

anyone hear about any new releases at this show. I haven't seen anything online about it.

Chevrolet Nub.....?
gasman replied to Modellpularn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yes they are, but they are known as the Rondo here. I know NYC has been experimenting with several different taxis over the past few years. they are looking for a replacement for the very old Ford Crown Vic. -

Its the Suzuki Forenza stateside and I haven't really heard anything bad about it. I've had good luck with the Korean car I did have. a 2001 Hyundai Accent. i'm still kicking myself for selling that car, it got 40 mpg without any effort on my part. was reliable. I didn't stick a dime in it. although the resale did suck (I paid $4300 for it in 2004 with only 17k on it). its worth a lot more know since gas has gone up.I sold it because I wanted a truck... -

Who Here will be at the Toledo NNL?
gasman replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was intending on going, with gas priced going down it really would'nt have been that expensive, but my nieces 1st birthday this weekend and that takes priority over model cars, I'll try to go next year. -
I really like the look of the new Challenger. I think it sounds great. and its been a big hit for Chrysler. but for the money, there is much better cars out there. the car tops out fully loaded at a little under $40K. its built on 15 year old technology. and there is no manual transmission for the V6 cars. at least the Hemi gets a 6sp. which from what I understand is very hard to find

its been since 1992 since my favorite teams the Pirates have even finished the season above .500 so I don't pay much attention to post season baseball anymore. Its a good think the Steelers and the Pens are playing right now. it helps up forget about the Pirates.

Found kits in an unexpected place
gasman posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
so i'm strolling my way through the countries in Epcot. taking in the attractions. and I go into the shop in Japan just too look around, and too my surprise I see Tamiya kits... some where not to badly priced. $16.50 for the Morris Mini Cooper. $28 for the VW Beetle 1300 (I bought this one). some where crazy expensive though. $42.00 for the 1:24 Lotus Super 7, $70.00 for the Ferrari Enzo. $32 for the Nissan 350Z Track. i'm guessing the one I bought where in the store before Tamiya jumped up there prices, but it was a cool to find kits in Disney World of all places. -
RIP Doc. Hudson

Revell Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350H kits
gasman replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
another tire choice found today. After removing the tabs on the wheels, tires from the Tamiya 99-03 Toyota Celica kit work too, plus they give you some nice sidewall detail. they need to be stretched a bit but they are the best looking tires I have found -
I take it we should hear an announcement around the iHobby show in the middle of October

Lindberg=== Concept version, not sure if it will be full detail or not Revell====full detail production car AMT=====curbside promo of the production car

another site mentioned a 70 Ranchero a 57 Buick would be cool. but it would HAVE to be marketed right. not only stock but with some custom options as well. similar to the 58 Impala I'm just hoping for the Corvette ZR1, and the 2010 Camaro to be kitted. those would be guaranteed great sellers. Revell would be taking a chance with the 57 Buick, I'm sure Revell will eventually do the 2010 Mustang as well since there in a Mustang mood right now

Another Pace Car promo score
gasman replied to ismaelg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice score Izzy. I got a stock one a few years ago thats in "played" in shape. looks like the previous owner used it as a toy. its in my "to be restored" box. i'll get to it some day. sad to say that none of that Brookfield stuff will ever be reissued. a warehouse which stored all there tools burned down about 10 years ago. -
I was a junior in Hight School. and in American History class when I first heard. once we heard of the plane crashing in Somerset. We all left for the day. I spent the rest of the day watching CNN
