  1. Barris meets Musk. Lol. Barris the understated one for first time evah.
  2. The rules are in the rule section. Hyperbole unnecessary but nice effort. Like you say in clear coat and painting threads, paraphrasing, maybe your experience but not mine. Your answer to my less obnoxious observation was fine. Civil. Thank you.
  3. Incredibly boring car and colors to put such nice skills into. How do you stay awake working on it??
  4. Car X restored Interesting, here's pre and post photos Here's version 1 Here's similar car Tires are cool Had alleged Tesla features THAT's a conversation. Insert variants of : it's ugly; it suxx; get cooties from it; worse than rat rod; WHy do we always have this brought up in a thread?? (MOST telling question, perhaps a pattern??) The latter isn't discussion. Ignore is great function, but in other threads you, Joe, Snake all have interesting stuff to say. You're not the only ones, but the horse was dead after a few posts. Following it for days arguing that it sux is NOT conversation. It's the US Congress, and nothing productive comes out of it. Polite doesn't imply sycophancy.
  5. Yes, Revell-DE, Snap, but pretty cool.
  6. Elon will claim that as an antenatal achievement if we ever point it out. Also, we need a like button Rude five year olds don't usually know where the line is, adults do. People can like what they like. We share liked stuff, I read your stuff. Yelling it suxxors ain't going to make anyone like anything less, and diminishes the whole board. Half the stuff on this car could have been vaporware, but ideas were cool. Buick Y-job (never kitted afaik) and LeSabre had all kinds of stuff, but no voice commands or light up tires. Goodyear even made some up for it, doubt GM asked. Weird idea, but 50's, Kustom, jet-o-space. LOL.
  7. Cool, a 2 door? Could you post a pic or 2 if you get time? He's got lots of things in catalog but hard to tell what shape the molds are in. TIA Tom.
  8. Snake, love your stuff, ya even like showrods IIRC. Agree on using the GP. Just c'mon, man. We get it. Horse is double dead. Beyond Snake-Fu.
  9. The wheels are not Mag 500's. They're Pontiac Rally II's. Available in easy to find 67 GTO, 68 Firebird, and 70 Bonneville. 15" Below is Mag 500. Similar, but spokes a lot narrower. Hard to see, but in real life, unmistakeable.
  10. Nah, overrestore it and drive it 20 miles in next 10 yr so our kids can buy it and cut it up, pro-tour the bejeebus out of it.
  11. LOL. "You can't build it stock" should start in next few posts. Considering they rusted on the trains to the dealers, probably a good thing. Lighter so made P/S faster. Grump's car was cool.
  12. Why so intolerant, and dragging into thread, mocking stuff? Ooo get cooties from rat rod, custom, rusty pos GP (I like GP's amongst all the other stuff), stupid 59 Chevy that rear end flies at 75mph and up because lift, whatever. World full of intolerance, why in our hobby? If you don't like whatever thread is about, just want to be negative, why?? All the same hobby, Cars, showrods, customs, rods, trucks. This really ain't "healthy discussion", or sharing a hobby. It's same BS we see everyday on news. You're different so I don't like you, you're inferior. It's a hobby. It's supposed to be fun.
  13. Glad to help. Just clip the front fenders and use the grille. The kit was an R&R, no longer producing. Front end of 67-68 are identical on 2 and 4 doors, so use the 4d you have. Rear ends likely easy to swap, mostly bumper. The hard part was getting the 4 door which you have. The rest is just fiddling, make it easy on yourself.
  14. Version 0 Version 1 Version 1 with Chris Craft Cobra. Price one of those out now. Bubble top added later. Please pipe up and say I like the wrecked one better. Or, dump on another thread?
  15. Great info in other post, but waaaay to much info. No idea how to whittle down, but wading thru that thread after couple of pages will be onerous. Part name, use, one snipped pic off instruction sheet, and an example photo in 1:1? No dup posts? No idea how to enforce/encourage that
  16. I like version one too. But I didn't dump all over the thread. How well would that work if everyone hopped in about a fabulous stock Zitmobile like creepy Uncle Fester owned? LOL. At least we get to wade thru "It's ugly" posts while discussing it. Thanks for the tolerance. ? EDIT 18 posts in this thread, 9 pertain to Golden Sahara. Earlier thread about Barris Kopper Kart has 6 posts. ALL pertained to the car. Shockingly no "UGLY" proclamations.
  17. Find a resin 68 Bonneville. The 69 you found is fairly different than the 67-68. I had original 68 Bonneville, and the hood is virtually identical to your 67. You'd only need front fenders and grille, I think it also had under grille valance. 65 Impala chassis slides right under. Easiest way Here's 68 Bonneville
  18. Price of Zinc has doubled for diecasts Aug 00 $1169.80/metric ton Aug 19. $2273.01/metric ton. So double cost of primary metal. Double cost of model. Inflation calculator does not cover it all, and if such good money in it from the ripoffs, why aren’t we seeing it? Can’t convince anyone lol. Must be a conspiracy.
  19. I couldn't tell what your post meant either. Cool pics. All Bill did was say what the pictures were, which are not easy pictures to know. No negativity at all. Actually we all like the idea. Your choice, but it's not on us, nobody argued.
  20. Oh, both promos, 71 & 72 are missing the Cadillac script in front of the front wheels. And they both have the 8.2 litre trim, hard to see on pic above but found similar car in smaller photos. Then later, we can get confused by the correct hubcaps on promos and incorrect ones on glue kits!
  21. Promos for 71-72 seem correct on trunk vents (71) and none(72). Johan at the time was using whatever boxes they had, so correct box not an indicator, or at least less so. I've seen the detail kits in the past, and I don't remember trunk vents in any 71-72 kit with opening hood. Maybe they were there, but I'd think I'd recall. I was surprised when I saw promos had trunk vents when I looked the other day. The kit with the rub strip and 8.2 litre markings has to be final 71-72. Could we see if either the smooth side or rub strip cars have trunk vents? Nice build on the second mystery car. Those have to be an early run of 71's before detail finalized. Rub strip carried over 71-74, 73 had the round crest/rear side marker, and vinyl roof added. No reason to fill rub strip and 8.2 script. In the kits, the 73-74 shared front side lights, and the rear fenders changed in 73-74. Full vinyl top tooled to 1/2 Landau. So tool changes made. So your 72 may be a 71, and the kits didn't match the promos. No rub strip either? Or r fender vents? Or trunk vents? That'd be a run with Cad script by cornering light, run with that and rear air vents, run with both plus rub strip and 8.2 script?
  22. Plus add in $ for licensing stuff that was given away as "advertising" not "branding". That's probably $3-4 minimum. And in AMT/MPC's case add $ from Ertl/Kidde/Fundimensions/Racing Champions/Tomy... That's easy another $3-4. Lawyer fees alone probably that. Then there's product liability in case some kid chokes on an exhaust header etc. Prob $0.50? who knows. So we're up to hypothetical WAG of $19.97-$21.47. Shipping? not following inflation. China/Mexico cut some costs, but shrinking market has made it harder to sell. The beloved 40% coupons aren't going to make HL etc. go bankrupt, so assume they buy at 45-50% retail. With same upfront costs. So I'd LOVE if my cost of living/running a business just followed inflation. It doesn't. Just sayin'. PS, forgot Sonny and Cher branding from Universal, Barris branding, and we can thank god mag wheel companies don't seem to have a "branding" need (I think). Upside is they used the Apaches on the S&C car, and the Mach One showcar both. Bonus! PPS, why wasn't this a 2 car kit to build both?
  23. A basic AMT Deuce kit. Vic and 5w IIRC. Bring parts bin, you'll need it. Note comment on top of box ?
  24. Wouldn't that be immoderation?? ???
