1/25 AMT Don Garlits' Wynn's Jammer Fuel Dragster
DukeE replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Kinda cynical about life there, wow. It's for fun, it looks like the 1:1, and is better than the previous issues. Star Trek stuff and licensing will pay for new car stuff soon enough. New decals look nice. I never liked FED's as kid, still don't like RED's. But the earlier streamlined stuff is cool. Far more kids into cars know who Garlits, Petty, the greats are. If it's on YouTube, they know it.- 32 replies

eBay vendor maroil https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=maroil&ftab=AllFeedback&myworld=true&rt=nc They have Cord resin bodies occasionally, mentioned in feedback. Also has kit guides, so it may well be Bob Shelton, not sure. Andy Martin has done a couple Duesies too, but limited, I haven't seen any up on eBay either. He did the Mudd coupe and a nice Rollston Victoria, but probably 2-3+ years ago. He is modelmartin on eBay. Neither has anything listed now. So, list of US resins done I guess, I've not seen full list. No stuff from Guido. Cord: AAM- Beverly sedan; Westchester sedan; Sportsman. Shelton: Beverly; ?Westchester Duesy: AAM- Weymann SJ boat-tail; Whittell boat-tail; Figoni fishtail; Gurney-Nutting Maharajah; Judkins 3-window; Sedan; J conversion hood and carbs; ?anything I missed? Aardvark/Martin: Mudd coupe; Rollston Victoria; J hood and carbs. Automodelli did built ups of the Mormon Meteor, Graber, and Leno's Walker coupe. I think that's it.

Upcoming Car Kit News from NNL Motor City
DukeE replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I never had the original issue roadster, gone before I got one, as was the coupe. The test shot headlights seem awfully googly-eyed/huge/outboard than I remember though. Doesn't even match box art drawing. Are there smaller headlights? Or was the original this way? I looked at Tim's site way back, but it's not what I recall. OK, just read Tim's review again. It has a set of smaller HL like the 32's. But still, the mounting looks odd to me. Original box art that way too I guess. Lots of parts, looking forward to getting one. -
Agree Gary. Plus the AHM seems like it's 1/26-1/28, certainly compared to 906's. But another great build. I still remember your C-type IIRC. Haven't seen the Tamiya 906. Need a list of decent slot bodies like that. I have a 2J that's easy enough to build, and way better than my old resin brick from Dave. Maybe worth a thread, hope it doesn't get moved to slots. There is/was a resin 910 from Fiotto? Looked ok online, never saw kit in hand.

For ages that was the only 906. That's an awesome build. The Arii (I think?) 906 is okay, but it's not much more detailed than the Lindberg/Humbrol. I have it, and it's fairly different breakdown of parts. Full detail needs scratchbuilding. That's the first time I've seen that kit in ages, never saw the Humbrol issue before. Fujimi steelies from late 356 with rings in back and GT40 tires and you're on the way. If only there was a good 910

Can we see your model stash?
DukeE replied to Fifer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I use copier paper boxes to store most conventional kits, 6-7 kits AMT/R-M per box, probably 4-5 Tamiya/G-Revell style kits per box. Promo style boxes 16 per box. You can stack them 4-5 high, label outside, and move easily, find stuff easier. Not a lot of duplicates, so I need to sort and group kits by type usually (32's/Showrods//Annuals etc). Builts I sort by year. Resin I always use shelves, try to keep bodies flat to avoid warp. Boxes take less room than shelves. Like Tom's signature, floor load is biggest concern. Boxes do make it easier to take stuff to shows sometimes, as easy to pack. HTH. You guys have a lot of nice stuff. -

Even less, probably <5%. Pretty amazed at the tons of dupes. If I have more than one, it's probably a donor for a resin body, or an old kit/builder that needed a home. Biggest number of single kit is 3, the 57 Bird, 57 Fairlane original issue, and Exner Revivals in color flips. -
AAM long defunct. Former proprietor is currently incarcerated

Upcoming Car Kit News from NNL Motor City

Thanks Tim. As always, good stuff, great pics. -
This. Really not much else. Sci-fi and military guys far less miserly. People even complain about resin prices with all that hand labor. We're not negative, the market isn't there. Amazed they did the '60 actually, and it's nice. I love Fords, and I love the old annuals. Still, a Camaro, Mustang, Chevelle will sell 8-1 or better than a full-size anything. They don't kit current pickups. Ford sells 2-3 per minute, 24/7/365. Lunatic fringe here a smaller audience.

AMT 57 Chevy Pepper Shaker - Newest reissue
DukeE replied to pharoah's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Latham's look like a loaf of bread, , Penco/SCOT etc are far shorter and taller. Latham's usually have intake/carbs on sides, Penco/SCOT have intake on top, 57 had the odd manifold to the top with plenum runners. Most ran with carbs on top. McCulloch's usually pressurize carb, so fuel/carb is on positive pressure side. They look like a ribbed donut/snail, can be large. Latham https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=20906 SCOT Penco same ad as Dave's Paxton-McCulloch usual mount (OEM for Ford F-engines, Studebaker R3) McCulloch side? mount Same, view of drive belt going thru small gearbox to impeller drive. I think. Not completely sure about these. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/mcculloch-supercharger.1075117/ Have seen great '40 Ford pickup with one, heard it run. Factory brochure -
Wonder if the convertible promo mold out there, or was it converted to coupe. IIRC they ran converts first then coupes, hence re-issues usually only coupes.

This has literally been discussed tons of times on this forum. Try search, Boolean search is your friend. It's more than 100k, and it's the tool, the design, etc. Read the thread maybe too, if you can get thru it. Big car companies sell big cars. They. Don't. Care. They license. That's discussed tons of times too.

You guys realize the understeer would be awful, right? V12 weighs around 385000#, the V16 about 441000#? That's 192 tons and 220 tons respectively. Ain't no alloy block, weight doesn't really matter

That may be an MCW http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/resinlist.html GAL-62sd 1962 Ford Galaxie 2dr. Sedan (1/25th scale) $45.00 (stock body, bumpers, hood, interior & vacuformed glass) Use AMT '60 Ford kit for chassis, wheels & tires, and engine. With Drag decals $53.00 Doesn't look like an SMH. They do, however, have a 62 Starlift, which is a 62 convert with a 60-61 Starliner roof as removable ht. For NASCAR, outlawed of course after ATL win.

I like the brochure, the v16 has 20,919 hp at 514 RPM. No TQ figs, but irrelevant in this app. 1307hp per cylinder. LOL.
