How would you cut this out?
DukeE replied to Safire6's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Fine line sharpie on inside cut lines. Probably keep upside down on hard surface and use something firm under hood and rear window area so it doesn't flex or move around. Like everyone said, take your time. Either back edge of new 11 blade, or scribing tool. Agree front line hard to see. Maybe do 1/2 side at time, from middle to window, do front first then back to keep stress off windshield frame. That way, last cut is along C post which is way stronger than windshield side. Maybe go most of way thru, then finish with little saw blade in xacto knife. Dremel good idea if you're used to it. Could use it on front edge, and on back with a bit of margin to clean up. But if you're not used to a Dremel, scribe away -
That's a great site, great story. BTW, Ed Cole designed the small block CHevy for GM. A car guy not a bean counter. Makes a difference. https://www.corvettemuseum.org/learn/about-corvette/corvette-hall-of-fame/ed-cole/ GM particularly good at small cars back then, surprisingly. Opel Manta and 1900 that got imported were great cars, engine a little crude, but clean looking. Another favorite wagon was 1900.

Great build, fit under hood full sleeper too. Side windows and glass perfect, Future on Acetate/kit windshield, or all acetate? Comet trim on C-pillar had tiny red comet on round part, I recall. But chrome/foil perfect anyway. I'm in awe. Just killer, family member had one I rode in ages ago, neat car.

Open road camper van body
DukeE replied to fordf-100's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You can't see motor really anyway, so do front clip of later body with cowl, molded closed hood, and perhaps base of pillars back to rear of door, then down, Easy cut, A-team van has correct roof ribs too if not using the camper shell. Directions show using a solid van panel on one side with oval window cut out. ANother thought for strength. -
Open road camper van body

Most of these as well as the annual Van versions have a crack in same spot, which allows a warp. Warp doesn't matter when mounted to chassis, but you have to reinforce area under wipers. Often the crack starts near the wiper base for some reason. -
I really like these cars Root around in there, there's tons of pics. Concours pics usually have open door pics, check all VIN's. Also check the 275GTB/4 section for Sheehan NART conversions, door jambs etc. HTH https://barchetta.mediacenter.plus/Community/NewHome.aspx?menu=small&banner=no&op=ds&SLClose=stay&dir=1964569&slsbackgrnd=0x131313&ft=search.11057&style=Plain&i=3538937

Nice Snake. Really nice model of Drogo nose 250LM. Here's a link to a famous one. Only about 5, I forget exact number, had Drogo nose retrofit. Most had Scaglietti short nose. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/5893.250LM.htm Here's list of them. Some "confusion" over LM's, as wrecked old race cars lose identity at times https://www.ultimatecarpage.com/sn/136/Ferrari-250-LM.html

Question, rear hump behind driver?
DukeE replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's 0728TR. The '58 Hill LeMans winner. Only non-pontoon fendered TR in the bunch. Sorry, just random history. Headrest fairing like Pat said can cover rollbar (rare in early days) or gas filler cap. In D-Jag, 250 TR (prob most famous cars with fairing) the gas cap is in there, usual large neck "Monza" style. Tank on TR was usually 32-35g, D-type was 40g. I forget similar things. LOL -
Annual 1966 Ford Thunderbird interior tube
DukeE replied to ewetwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mark knows. I googled since my 66 is not handy. Love those cars. I didn't realize 64-65 had really similar upholstery, have only had original 66, never looked hard on any promos. 66 65 64 -
Boss Hogg '70 Cadillac Deville Convertible
DukeE replied to Andrew D the Jolly Roger's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Is that a fuse with wire thru it? Awesome idea, great build.70's hard to find, and nicest Caddy build I've ever seen. -
GRev has VW license for the Transporters, so is it a TD thing? Atlantis has been issuing TD fine, so that's odd, unless only one licensee?

Box art funny, the dark paint hides those details pretty well. The fender vents on Camaro look wonky, I can see the T/A wheel fairing things that look more Firebird-like after your comments. Window line on F-bird not great looking. Funny that screamin' chicken on the Camaro hood too. These and the Lindberg 1/24 Porsche 906 are scarce, low value, but pretty nice kits. Re-issue fodder, Fujimi wheels on the 906 make it look as good as the Fujimi GT40. I really like these, huge Mitchell, Haga, Jordan fan despite not much of a GM fan. 70-73 T/A kammback would be killer. Thanks for your vast kit knowledge Mark

25 ford pickup custom
DukeE replied to damodelguy az's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice work. Jag motor is fun, which kit? Looks like Aurora/Monogram. Where'd the headlights come from? I need some of those. -
One of the best guys ever. He, Brad, and Don and Carol are class acts. Hope they're all well, I only saw a pic of Carol in all the coverage. Amazing stuff, he's made stuff on request.

1968 Olds 442 Wheel Options
DukeE replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Blackwall vote, RWL draws eye from wheel. Found SS1 with redlines, looks decent. Wheel still pops.Red ducts weird. Local LEO has one family owned silver 68 W30 Hurst. Just cool car, only SS2's, I've never found pic of SS1's on H. -

Golden Sahara Restored
DukeE replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’ve found that addition helps many things. Funny thing about the Mead shoot. Car didn’t have hitch on it. But it looked right. Sterling did nice kit of the Cobra too. One in family stash. Nice Kiekhafer marine Chrysler and you’ve got a pretty amazing boat.
