Pontiac GTO 1967 (MPC 1/25 scale)… a NIGHTMARE build…
Bills72sj replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
I had heard these wee a pain to build. Thank you your perseverance. At least now I know it CAN be done. -
Beautiful. Love them Chargers.
-
way cool build. Whenever I get to my 67, it will be a cop car.
-
Well done on opening the doors. I am not brave enough to attempt that feat.

Very nice Judge. I agree, Triple Black Pontiacs are awesome. I currently own one. (1972 Grand Prix, my 3rd).
-
Very impressive. Love the LEDs. Great job on the front bumper refinish.

Very nice build. I think your Accel Supercoil is feeling sad... -

I give you props for dealing with all the decal issues. If I suspect a decal sheet is going to be troublesome, I put a hi-res scan of it in my PC. If the original sheet fails, I have a .bmp file to manipulate into a water slide decal. (Though I am running low on my Testors decal clear coat). The pic is of some decals I made from scratch to make a 1/25 Hotwheel for a contest years ago. -
Cool car. If I could get one in 1/25, I would add it to the stash.

Awesome build. The woodgrain effect on the dash is very nice.

Looks very Post Apocalyptic. Kinda like a Mad Max movie car. Very cool.
-
Very nice. I have a rainbow of E-bodies. None in white (yet)

Nice start. What kit has this wheels? -
Very nice build. Lovely color. A '71 is the only year Chevelle have not acquired yet.

AMT Fruehauf Tank Trailer

I built one of those as a teen in the 70's. I have no recollection of how it went together. What are its flaws and is it the same build as the chrome one? -
What is your Favourite Classic Car?
Bills72sj replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dang near every American car sold in 1969. -
Cool ride. Nice car. I too lost a 1:1 to an engine fire. I had 9 years of blood, sweat and paychecks invested in it.

I am late to the party but have read the whole thread. I shall now follow. I saw a 1:1 of this back in the late 80's in Omaha, Nebraska. It was a work in progress as evidenced by the Bondo and primer. I thought it was a cool concept. Your build progression feels a lot like my Pro Street 70 El Camino endeavor. It turned into quite kit bash. There was a lot of problem solving. Most, but not all of my goals were met with that one. -
Why do you model?
Bills72sj replied to Matt Bacon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am all of he above... Diehard car guy since I could identify every make and model by sight in the late 60's. I love the creative license to make it any color, any engine, and any wheels my heart desires. Solving problems and learning new techniques. The satisfaction of a job well done. The ability to admire my builds long after they have been completed. A little ego boost if my results are liked by others. (My 1:1 serves this purpose as well) -
SWEET BUILD! Love the stance.

The best man in my wedding had a brown 73 Cutlass. I always like the style.

How Important is Box Art
Bills72sj replied to Biggu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am kind of in the middle. While subject is the MOST important criteria, good artwork provides a bit more enticement. Particularly when illustrating the decals included therein. In my earlier days, the paint scheme often had an influence on my paint choice for the build. Nowadays, not so much. However, I am inexplicably drawn to artwork with patriotic red, white and blue paint schemes. I think it is just me.
