  1. I like the appearance. I am not so sure they would have sold very many. I am not thinking a Mercury demographic buyer would be in the market for a mini pickup.
  2. I do the same. Carve out the back of the dash to create an opening. trim and glue the decals still on their backing paper. It keeps them stiff and flat. Then apply Testors Window maker (canopy glue) with a toothpick to just the right depth. It wicks into the gaps around the edges and dries crystal clear. I have used this glue on many models over the years. No yellowing noted.
  3. I repair commercial restaurant equipment an have been doing it for 20+ years. The old school stuff I work on, I could walk up to it and figure out its problem in about 10 minutes. All the newer stuff coming online is so full of electronics I always have to call tech support or... try to read a 181 page service manual on a phone. (Imagine looking through a straw to read the encylopedia). I am so looking forward to retiring to get away from this technology. BTW my car? 1972 Grand Prix. Quadrajet, points, R12 and NO computer anything.
  4. I am lovin' that Comet. I also see you do a nice job detailing your rims on the ones that need it.
  5. Way cool project. My dad used to drag race in the 60's. Does your family have a name for the car?
  6. Very nicely done. I like that you opened up the slots on the Rallys. Wheels with the holes chromed over just look wrong.
  7. Cool project. I am curious why the interior floor need to be raised so high.
  8. That is looking pretty good. Nice color.
  9. I use SuperClean at full strength. I have had a few paint jobs that needed to go back and forth from that and brake fluid. I have not tried 91% on anything yet.
  10. I have two of those Tamiya rotating/spring loaded stands. Rarely use them. I take a piece of really thick sprue and sand the end flat. I then CA glue it to the headliner where a dome light would be. I have some alligator clips on a bunch of bamboo skewers. That way I can hold the body and get every surface perfectly coated as I can rotate and tilt it in my hand. Between coats, I just poke it right above the paint booth in the corrugated plastic that I made my booth out of.
  11. Way cool build. I love red Challengers.
  12. That looks FANTASTIC! Well done.
  13. I rarely have a problem with inspiration. I have so many builds in my head that is is difficult to prioritize. I do, do some research to learn things like detail colors and finishes. Sometimes that leads me in a course correction. I have quite a number of paints so I can do test shots on spoons and select the shade of color that will go on a build. My favorites are Day 2 muscle cars and Semi trucks that can haul Day 2 muscle cars. Both subjects give me a lot of creative freedom.
  14. I built one in the 70's as a kit. Too many parts. did not turn out well. I have a '97 reissue of the Revellgram kit. still have not gotten to it. I would like to take another crack at the vintage Revell kit when it comes out.
  15. That rear shot of the 32...WOW! I love the engine in the T'bird too.
  16. Great group! Where did you get the wheels for the '55, the '67 Chevelle and the GTO?
  17. Nice builds. One and all.
  18. Are you creating all these custom bodies from scratch or are they 3D printed?
  19. Thank you Lee. I wanted an updated look. Thank you Lucas. 🙂
  20. Very nice build. I almost started mine last year. I even bought a Gen III Hemi for it. But alas, the squirrels distracted me elsewhere.
  21. 100% acetone is great for removing dried paint from your airbrush or other metallic objects. I would be fearful to get it on any styrene surface.
  22. I'm with Steve, I got the bulk of my stash from 2001 to 2005 when ebay (and shipping) were reasonable. Model shows are the best for running across what you may be looking for but then you are in a room full of people looking for the same thing and knowing what they are worth. The needle in a hay stack is finding a garage sale of a deceased model collector being run by one of their children looking for fast cash.
  23. I bought them from Auslowe. They appear to be hair or fiber from a soft brush. When I painted them white, the paint beaded up evenly by accident. It was as though there was oil in the strand. Anyway, it makes for an accidental simulation of wire wrapped fiber glass rod. The tip is simply a dip in Testors red enamel.
  24. Thank you Rooster. Black and gold are a good look together.
