  1. Any time you can complete something and make the kids happy , thats a good thing...and Izzy, we'll have no dumpster diving
  2. Its the only bookmark I have since the ''Big computer crash of 2007'' so I'm stuck here seriously, this board and the Traditional Rod and Kustom board , are enough for me.....
  3. I really enjoyed those pics Steve, I was told about a show here in Illinois called the ''Hunnert car pile up''...Its the same week this year as Toledo , so I'll make it next time around....heres a link to the past shows HUNNERT CAR PILE UP....MORRIS ILLINOIS
  4. Being the 1st year for Goodguys in the Chicago area the model contest was rather small, but the crowd looking at the builds was steady all day....all ages asked questions, took pictures and the younger ones loved the ''Make and take'' The two bigger trophies went to older builds from the 60s ....30 models were entered this year, and with the large turn out for the Goodguys event, I can see this contest growing next year.. Goodguys model contest here
  5. So far a great show, heres a few teaser pics, more at the link....stay tuned for day 2 and 3 Goodguys show here
  6. It kinda looks like to much paint at one time, this causes runs and sags . Its flat black so sanding the blemishes out wont be to hard...practice on some old bodies...flat black is pretty easy to paint..dont try to cover the entire body in one coat...trial and error can be costly, even worse with gloss paints.
  7. Started setting up today for the Model contest at GoodGuys in Joliet Its located in the infield , garage #3 @ the Speedway..........
  8. Use the ''insert image'' button 7th icon , second row below the word ''fonts'' on the page your typing on...put your mouse cursor on each one till you hit the ''insert image'' then click it, cut and paste in the space provided....then empty the attachment file , i think anything in there will be lost when emptied...
  9. All the builds were great but that Rolling Rock beverage truck is top notch.
  10. If I remember right Minicraft had a '28 Lincoln...everything else in that scale was '31 on up...
  11. That color is fantastic Bill, always a pleasure seeing your builds come to life.... 8 hours in my dehydrator , I would have a blob..even with the deflector I built inside and added relief holes in the top, at 105* 1 1/2 to 2 hours max for me...does your dehydrator rotate?
  12. Bob Tindles '32 never looked better..its not for the impatient builder type of kit...I have a few with the 1pc nose assy, and a front fendered chopped deuce from the street demons series that still has the 3 pc hood assy...looking at yours the 1 piece looks better , nice job molding in the grille .
  13. I built models in the 60s and gave it up in 1977 or so when I got married , got back into it on a fluke when my brother in-law came in for a visit and asked if I would take a ride to ''Al's hobby shop''with him. That was Christmas of 2000 , and now 1100 kits , die-cast and promos take up the entire basement....I dont build anything special , but love to re-do a busted up kit or someones discarded build. I'm 53 and been married 30 years and have 3 kids , son #1 works in radio, son #2 decided being a mover was more glamorous than ''med school'' [but he did make me a proud grandpa this year]and a daughter in culinary school....wife works in accounting so telling her kits only cost a few bucks don't work...Been driving trucks since 1976 and been moving furniture and trade shows cross country for the last 12 years..I love going to NNL events , Milwaukee and Toledo are on my list every year now and would love to attend the NNL east next time around. I wish I could spend a little more time building [or build a little faster]but I never regret taking that ride 7 years ago.
  14. Hey Jeff they all look great, that 53 Ford is smokin'.........
  15. Great stuff... SMBC
  16. Been awhile updating this one, but the entire kit was busted up pretty bad, the chassis was a mess, shot with dupli-color and using a Slixx number set , I'm gaining some ground...interior will be done in the same red color as the stripe..
  17. Awesome job Kurt..is that an ''out of the box '' build?
  18. Harold that old Stude looks great, I never built one myself , but I enjoy seeing them done.
